He saw it the other day; just kinda stared for awhile; never said anything though...so I don't know if he liked the changes or not. My grandma couldn't believe it was the same pickup. Definitely doesn't look the same anymore...which is a good thing...

Ha yup, might get lost in a snowstorm!!
Does look really nice, I should really pull out a clay bar for some of my rigs...amazing how smooth the finish feels after you finish with that, isn't it?

I never truely knew what Clay was/did until I tried it a couple years ago. Now I can't imagine not claying my vehicles! Amazing what a few minutes with a clay bar can do...

Quote originally posted by Quinlan I've toyed around with the debadging idea. Debadged with a set of white door handles would clean up the look alot IMO. Also looking at billet grilles and new lights all around...I'll have to look into the newer style tails... Debadging made the biggest diff on mine for certain and didn't cost a penny. Escalade handles are nice but $200 is alot for that. The tails will make a huge diff as well. before debadge after debadge gmfullsize.com is the spot for all the free mods

So debadging is taking off the Z71 sticker? I like it better badged IMO. But then again I am not into modding mine hah. And I think nick should have left on the black molding!

I have been taking care of mine since it left the showroom floor and it still looks brand new 5 years later.

Once these tires wear out, I may install different torsion keys with a block in the rear. Should bring it up 2" or so. I don't feel like forking out $1,000+ for a full 4" lift, and then still need new tires and probably rims at that point. I'll just spend the $300 for keys and blocks, then run a set of 265's. My buddy did the same thing a few years ago and it had a nice stance to it.
I just turned up the torsion bars and put in an extra leaf spring in the rear of my 99. Go to 7th Ave Auto in north Fargo and pick up a set of leaf springs for little or nothing. That was enough lift to fit 285's under it with no problems. It was about a 3-4" lift. Plus it gives you a little more suspension if you ever pull a trailer or if one of your chicks finds a way to the bed.
I need big jugs on my sled, cuz my girl doesn't.

The keys on this one are already cranked, and it's not even level yet...the front sits about 1/2" lower than the rear.

True or False, I was told turning up the torsion keys on your friend end destroys the ride of the vehicle?? I considered doing it to my truck but decided against it because I enjoy the ride so much...

I've read that also. Personally, I didn't think it jeopardized the ride at all. I just drove it 320 miles to school and it rode pretty smooth the whole way.

I drove mine for 2 years (40,000 miles) and it rode just fine. But then again I lived on minimumly maintained gravel roads. I am used to 3/4 and one ton trucks. I don't really want a "cadillac ride".

The rest of the badges will come off when I'm home and have time, and I hope to pick up a set of escalade handles for it eventually (still looking at lights also). Should look nice and sleek when done.

Did a little more work over the last couple days. Friday I installed a set of white/chrome doorhandles, along with a white tailgate handle and bezel. Also installed some Street Scene Speed Grille inserts and colormatched the bowtie up front. Earlier today I finished fully debadging it. I really like the look right now. I wouldn't mind picking up a set of 04-06 taillights eventually, or even a set of clear marker lights up front. Then it will probably stay this way until I need new tires and will install a leveling kit to bring it up a couple inches, and put on a set of larger tires.
Until then, here it sits.

Looks even better, the new tails will set it off nicely. 03's use the same as the 04-07 classic but they don't have the black line around the edge. You also need to change something minor in the wiring harness to adapt them.

Yup. I think I like the look with the black lines better, which is why I stated 04-07. From what I've read, you can either modify the stock harness, or simply not use one of the spots on the tails, as it's going from a 3-bulb setup to a 4-bulb. Not too worried about it either way. I don't mind wiring if it comes down to it.
