well im building a trailer to pull behind my 4 wheeler for camping. i have the frame made 5 feet long by 4 feet wide. i was just looking for some advice on how to do the sides. i had it planned to have the walls 18 inchs tall so nothing would fall out. or bouce out. maybe put a hinged top on it?

here is what i have done so far.

We found a really old buckboard wagon infront of a resturaunt that was out of buisness and we asked the owner if we could have it and he said sure. We ended up taking of the wheels and axels and puting onto a trailor frame that we bought at Tractor suply for really cheap becasue it had no decking. I think the trailor at tractor supply was only like $250 and you could pull an atv on it but now we pull it behind the atv's.

Good start. For mounting the axle, I would weld a plate on the angle you have for mounting. If you are not going to haul rock, concrete, etc.., maybe put on plywood sides. If you are not storing it inside, maybe go to a 12-14 ga sheet metal with 1.5 spuare tubing posts in the corners. Or build a "cage" up from the frame you have made to mount all the panels on. It really depends on how it's going to be used. If you're just hauling camping supplies, you could go light. But if you plan on hauling anything heavy, I would build it pretty stout. For me, I would use the "cage" idea and weld on all steel panels.(make the inside the smooth side) It might be an over-kill, but at least it will hold up.
