Hello everyone i got a unusual question. My dog Kody a 16-17 month ammerican eskimo developed blood shot eyes late yesterday afternoon. My gf had him over at a friends to play with there 7 month old rottie. She left him there and went shopping for an hour or so. When she came back she noticed his eyes were blood red. Now kody has dark brown eyes(pics further down). We took him in to the vet last night and spent 3hrs there while they ran all sorts of tests. Everything came back normal and they figured it was a weird allergic reaction to somthing he may have gotten in his eyes. His eyes themselves checkl out fine, retnia and cornia all seem fine, he has no scratches on his eyes or anything in them.
Me being concerned and not comfortable with the vets answer or with taking chances with kody's vision. I did a little research on the net and found that the eye condiotion can be caused by dogs pulling to hard on a leash, high blood pressure, or a hit to the head.
I am wondering if anyone has heard or experienced this. Now from what i read its no big deal and will go away in a few weeks. Kody also seems perfectly fine is alert, energetic and his normal crazy self.
Let me know what you think
I should also mention he is going back to are regular vet on thursday to get rechecked again.
In the seocnd pic you can see the white part of his eyes, those are the parts that are blood red, as in he has broke every blood vessel in the whites of his eyes.

I feel your pain, my 2.5 year old Newf's eyes will get blood shot if he has a long night or is really tired. For the longest time we thought it was allergies or something in his eyes. Vet told us he is sleepy...sure enough thats what it was. He is use to passing out around 9 and weekends would come and he styles to stay up with "the big dogs" lol and the redder his eyes would get.
Your case, the blood is still there I would be leaning toward messin around with the other dog. I grew up with dogs on leash and had never seen that. My old Lab would use a logging chain and never poped a blood vessel. Hope the best. Let us know what the other Vet says.

Well the we have figured out what happened. He strangled himself on his chock collar and lease while tied up in the back yard of my gf friend. The blood shot eyes is not un like petecial hemoraging when someonce is chocked or strangled. Our vet knew the minute he saw kody what it was. Apperently this is more common in smaller dogs as there necks are not as muscular as larger dogs which would offer more protection from this. Kody will be fine and basically his red eyes will change and fade away like a bruise does, so he will have green and purple eyes at some point.

Don't you believe that for one minute! A choker collar on ANY size dog is bad news. A couple years ago I brought my 90 pound lab in for a check up and he is not fat-just big. The vet about blew a gasket when he saw the choker collar. Basically he said, fine for going out for a walk but NEVER let the dog go out or be chained up with one. I bet everyone in the clinic heard him bellow!
Glad to hear that you dog will be fime1

I personally will niever tie my dog up without supervision at all. You never know what could happen on any leash if left unattended. Hope your dog gets better, I love the all white.
