I'm looking at a nice Indy 500 SKS efi, and the last three letters are making me nervous. Its a 96. Did they have the efi working well by then, or is it a little too old?

Those 500 EFIs worked quite well, by 96 the "bugs" would have been worked out for that generation of EFI system

By then Polaris had been putting EFI on sleds for 6 years, they had it down pretty well.

Search for threads about "select monitor" to find out how to tune it up yourself.

I have a 95 RXL that my mrs. rides. I rode it a few tims last year myself. They do run real strong and my EFI works great. Like the other guys said keep the battery charged or it won't run. I had that problem happen to me. Don't listen to all the bad things people say about the 90s Poos with EFI.

People that bash the EFI were jealous of the extra HP that the EFI provided..

I just took the EFI from a '91 RXL and installed on it a Storm 800 for the extra HP and reliability. Man, what a difference!!!

I my case I wish it was jealousy. Some people, LIKE ME, that bash the RXL, had them back prior
to the average person having the net, when Polaris dealers couldn't fix them. Nothing more fun then having a 2 year old sled
that ALL my local dealers couldn't figure out. And a foot of snow on the ground.

When the RXL ran, they ran good, and obtained good fuel mileage to boot

Just like mattg said- Keep the battery in good shape with good charge and the EFI's are real reliable. Keep the electrical connections greased helps as well.
