I currently have a suzuki 250 that I love but I fell like I am to big for it, I have been riding bikes since I stated out on an 90 when I was 8 and when I was 11 I got a 125 the I sold it quit riding until I was 14 then I got my 250 and I am really comfortable with power, but being 6'2 and being 230 I fell kind of big on it, so my questions are should I get a 450 and which brand should I get , or should I try to find a 500cc engine and swap it with the 250 if that is even possible I plan on selling the 250 after winter or next year, How do the 450's compare to the 250's when jumping because I plan doing some whips in the woods this year again and also doing triples doubles and gap jumps. any help would be great.

i dont think you should put a 500 into your 250 frame, but i was ridin a 250 today and they got some decent power, its pretty much all you need for jumping and stuff. im not to good with dirt bikes, but just my two cents.
the 6" billet risers look sweet, can sounds sick :D ready for winterrrr

I have ridin many 450's and it is just unnessesary to have that much power, expecially for your age. Most 450's aren't any bigger than your bike.
Stick with the 250.

We have a Suzuki 125 two stroke and I have never felt to big on it. Im not a small guy at 6'5 250 so Im not sure how you feel big on a 250 unless its a yami ttr or something. I would stick with the 250 tho.
Ive ridden a few 450's in my time and I feel the only time you need that kinda power is in serious racing. Just my .02

Yeah had a bad experience with my big bros 650 four stroke today i dumped it 2 or 3 times because on my 250 I am used to the power i thought he was crazy when he bought but being smaller than I am but he was driving 500's when he was 16 so I guess he is used to the power

Revalve your suspension and have it set for your weight and size. As far as more power you shouldn't need it unless your racing and food for thought 2-stroke rebuild parts $200.00 and you can do it yourself. Rebuilds on a 4-stroke start at approx. $1600.00 if nothing is broken just a freshen-up.

dont do it!!!! those 450's are gay, weigh a ton, dont have more power, and are awkward in my opionion. do u have any performance parts? how about dome upgrades on ur 250. what year is your 250? i have a 98' cr250 i have a BB in it, reeds, fmf pipe, and new shocks. you might also want to gear up(faster).
and for your next post say what ur bike is 4-stroke? 2-stroke? year? and by the way i smoked a 2008 rmz450 with my CR.

6'2" 230lbs....get a 450. Especially if you are serious about jumping and riding in the open. If the pros can handle a 450 on a tight supercross track then you'll be fine. To say a 450 is gay, weighs a ton, and "dont have more power" is the most ridiculous thing I've read. DUH!!!!

^^^^^ The CR 500 is a great bike, way more power them anyone ever really needs, but fun to have it. We had one for a few years, dad rode it, once we left the drive way I would only see the dust he left behind every once and awhile.
I've got a 2003 YZ 250 with the forks and shock revalved by RG3 and it makes a huge difference for a big guy when the bike is set up properly for his weight. I'm not a big guy, actually far from it, 5'8" 165 lbs, but this bike was set up for the previous owner and he said he will have RG3 do all of his bikes from now on, because he had so much more variablity with what was there.
A 450 is a great bike to and your size you would not have a problem with it. There is more then enough power in one of those as well. The thing that is the most attractive about them is that the power is consitant all the way through the power band. As a racer, you will find that riding a two stroke and then a four stroke back to back on the same track the two stroke will require three times the amount of shifting to keep in the power and sometimes this can slow you down coming out of corners. The fourstroke will need half the amount of shifting and with the power being everywhere it will pull through all the slow spots for two strokes. The fourstroke is also the king of the sand for this same reason.

I would prefer the honda over the suzuki, but that is just my personal opinion. With some minor adjusting to everything you can make both bike work the way they are supposed to out of the box.

Honestly unless you can ride that bike to it's full potential, (which i doubt you can cause if you could you would be pro) You don't need a 450. The size is pretty much the exact same so you would still feel big on it.

Free riding isn't that hard on one, but most guys like the two stroke better because it is lighter which makes it easy to move around in the air when doing tricks.

I've never ridden my 250 to it's full potential and i've been riding for a long ass time. if you wanna boost more power out of your bike, then look into Big boring, or get the head setup for race fuel.
