I usually have my 250 in 4th or 3rd the most because those gears have enough power to hit jumps and not enough power to overshoot landings I know with a 4 I will not have to shift as much, what gear do u guys that have 4s or 2s try to stay in
1998 Polaris Indy 500 chassis with 98 Xc 600 motor

450s are slow heavy and worthless. my neighbor has 3 and nothing but problems with all of them stay with the sweet Suzuki 250 you got.
You're just full of un-education worthless information aren't you?
I was thinking the exact same thing.

i'm 5'9" and about 160 and i ride a 05 suzuki RMZ 450 and i love it. Its nice being able to come out of turns with all the power. The machine is a beast and has a lot of low end power, which is perfect for motorcross. My buddy who is about 6' and 220 also rides a 07 rmz 450 and loves it.

That is why I am looking into 450's because they have a lot of power that can be used anywhere

I like my 250 over the 450 in that area, can carry more speed into the corner without the engine braking, and (unless it's slick) can get into and out of a corner faster then the 450. just my experience tho

I have an 06 kx250f and love the thing. My brother has a 05 rmz450 and prefers to ride my bike. The power is a lot of fun on his bike but you can throw my bike around a lot better. The 250 has a ton of power but doesn't compare to the 450. You being a bigger guy, I would jump up to the 450. It's the same size frame, sometimes the swing-arm is a little longer depending on the make. I can't vouch for any specific brand, I NEVER have a problem with my Kawi. You have to decide for yourself if the torque of a 4 stroke is what your after or if you like the two stroke power. Both are a ton of fun, but I prefer the 4 stroke on the track to give me the power out of the tight turns to hit a jump better. with the two strokes you have to us a ton of clutch to keep the rpms up in the corners. Not to mention they suck down gas and need a new top end every 25 hours (if you stick to the factory recommendations) I also love the engine braking of the 4 strokes...

How'd ya know? I have so many MX Unleashed hours i could be as good as Ricky on the track! lol
Nah, my opinions come from countless hours on both 2 stroke and 4 stroke bike. The 450 is a lot easier to ride with the huge torque and displacement advantage, but the 250 is just so much fun to ride and it loves being ridden fast. Buddy of mine (who owns the 450) and I have been racing and riding together for 6 years, and when we both go at it, you can tell where the bikes strengths and weaknesses are.
250 2 stroke is way faster in the corners, yeah you need a little more clutch, but in sandy tracks the 2 stroke shines, the 450 will kill my bike where ever the torque can play a roll, like up hill drags where up shifting is required. Tight tracks the 250 takes it by a mile. wide open tracks the 450 wins. lots of jumps or very technical tracks 250's weight advantage plays a huge factor, Fast tracks the 450 takes it.

Agreed 100%....
Nothing is more fun than a huge clutch dump around a monster sandy berm on a two stroke
