Always have hated that place and try to avoid it all costs, i'm fine paying more at other places!!! Mostly so I don't have to stand in checkout line for 30 minutes, 26 check outs and only 3 open at all times!!!! What a joke!

they do suck, I avoid the place as much as possible, Didn't the goverment break up Microsoft a few years ago when they had the monopoly, why can't they step in and break-up wally world. They've killed downtown shops in my town. I usually have no problem paying a couple extra bucks to avoid the place.

They already did the whole "Project Impact" here. Now the store really sucks!! I hate going there, and only do when I HAVE to. The things they said in the article are true. The clothing section "glows" with all the bright colors. You can't help but laugh at them. We've seen a lot of the smaller shops close down here too because of them.

Actually, you're thinking of AT&T that got broken up... And under Bush, they were allowed to re-conglomerate very quietly.

Nothing good will come from Wal-Mart taking over everywhere.

Wal-Mart will only have competitive prices while there is competition. Once everyone else is gone, they jack up the prices since you have no choice you get bent over a barrel.

They are also straining suppliers by forcing them to lower prices, which they do by using cheaper materials if they don't want to fold.

When they close out all the other stores, millions are going to lose jobs. And millions more who have 401k's that invested in those businesses will lose their retirements. (they know this.....)

There is pretty much no ethics anymore in business. This is a shining example.

Nothing new...they took over my home town 15 years ago. I choose target when I have to get diapers and big ticket stuff like that. I think they are set up a little nicer.

I like Shopping at Meijer as far as super dept. stores go. Every now and then I go into Wally World for something specific and try to get out as fast as I can. I get most of my food through local grocers though.

I don't mind Walmart for the very little bit of shopping I actually do there, which is probably a couple of times a year. If there's a Target near by, I usually choose that. Mainly because that's a Minnesota based operation

The author of the article appears to have an anti-Walmart attitude, but fails to point out many bad things about the company or stores. He is mostly pointing out improvements Walmart is making in the shopping "experience" there, which I would see as positive things. The article is actually very positive.

I don't go out of my way to shop at Walmart, but there are a few things I like to buy there. Walmart is convenient if you know exactly what you want, where to find it, and what to pay. If you need any resemblance of knowledge, common sense, or human life, you usually need to find a different store.

This is a free market economy, and anybody can do whatever they want to (legally) gain market share. More power to Walmart for doing that.

Its cheap, and it has what you need most of the time. Let's hate Capitalism because that is what Walmart is, a perfect example of Capitalism.

Recognizing that I volunteered as a Ranger, fully knowing the hazards of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and high esprit de corps of the Rangers. Acknowledging the fact that a Ranger is a more elite soldier who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by land, sea, or air, I accept the fact that as a Ranger my country expects me to move further, faster and fight harder than any other soldier. Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task whatever it may be, one-hundred-percent and then some. Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and well-trained soldier. My courtesy to superior officers, neatness of dress and care of equipment shall set the example for others to follow. Energetically will I meet the enemies of my country. I shall defeat them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a Ranger word. I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy and under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my country. Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission though I be the lone survivor. I know a few people that work there (My girlfriend was one a few years ago while in college). They pay 20 cents over min wage and where very tricky! Screwed out of breaks, given 1 less hour so they didn't have to give insurance.

Screw target too lol.

Target and Walmart ran everyone out of town. I avoid them at all costs. I recently did some price comparative stuff and I found that many things I was looking at was most expensive at walmart. I do however like buying in bulk to save at sams club.. but I should not have to pay to buy in bulk and then wait 30 mins in line!!! I have since located a few FREE local bulk shops and after my sams club membership is up, I will be going to these local bulk shops more and more.

There was a study done by Fox 9 in MN and they checked the 5 biggest food chains in the metro. I hate to say it, but wally world was the cheapest. I sure as hell wouldn't buy from their meat market. I usually get my groceries from country market and my meat from von hansons meat market. Meat markets are where they need to be price wise and the freshness is 100 times better.

I get dill pickles (the mega pickle jar) there and that's about it.

Capitalism is the way to go, but there is also a thing called ethics and I guess their ethics do not take into account how they impact small business or the landscape. I just wish they were a little more spread out, but as long as they have the mega pickle jars at their low low price I will continue to stop there when the jar is low.

Here also, they now have a liquor store also. I have always thought it was kind of weird that under 1 building they have; a gas station, an automotive repair shop, pet store, clothing store, subway, grocery store, pharmacy, photography, glasses place, gardening, bakery, deli, crafts, and a gun shop.

It's killing off all of the smaller mom and pop type of stores in town here. They can't compete with big business.

Owning a race sled is like having a totally hot girlfriend..... All of your friends want to see it, feel it and check it out..... They all want to know what it is like to ride it, but if they only knew how much time and money it takes to keep one up, they would call you a fool!

I stopped by the one near work tonight and while talking to frieds watched a guy for 10 minutes look at a row of crackers and then walk away leaving the rest laying on the floor. What wal mart is doing is not right but these are entry level jobs really that anyone can do so i don't think the pay should be that great.

I will agree Wal-Mart sucks! My mom works there and they screw all their workers. They cut their hours to 20 a week even though there full time. Yet they are still highering more part time workers. Right now my mom just got transferred to sporting goods from toys and they won’t replace her so she’s the manager of sporting goods and toys now and is only working 20 hrs a week. But she works every day because that way she can’t go get assistance. They suck and only reason I shop there is I have a discount and I’m poor.

We have a WalMart and Meijers in my town, about a mile or two away from each at that. As soon as the Meijers came in our local Felpausch and Carter's had to shut down. We now only have the Wally World, Meijers and a little grocery store to choose from. I don't mind the Meijers much mostly because it's a Michigan based company and a couple representatives from at least two different stores showed up to the livestock auction at our county fair and bought a lot of animals and put in a lot of premiums. The auctioneer was kind enough to point out, "Where's WalMart?".
