Yeah, nice job.
But about the tall nuts, if u use them without double backers and catch something strong enough to break or bend the stud, itll pull through the track instead of breaking or bending. Id rather have a broken stud then a pull through. At least thats how I think about it.

thanks guys - yeah id say 99% of the backers are square. took me about 3 hours id say maybe less -- went good though. I used my Milwaukee mini impact to tighten the nuts , that saved soooooo much time

nuts are aluminum, so they will strip before that much pressure is applied.
I ride in the ****tiest trails for trail debeis and have never bent one. I am not saying it won't happen but it hasn't yet.
I have had some pull throughs do to over tightening and cutting of the track.
I also use plastic backers which are only tightened to around 20 in. lbs.

All studs have the stopper on the bottom, thing is that over time the backers will cut a perfect hole through the track.

I was looking into this track for my sled but it seems like in deep snow it would just spin a lot. Doesn't seem to have much paddle action going on like the carve or ripsaw

HOw many scratch lines does that pattern have? If you used the woody's universal template i'm assuming 18.

I wasnt talking about when your tightening them. I was referring to while youre riding, if you catch a root or a rock with the stud, it has a greater chance of pulling through instead of breaking or bending. But with double backers you will minimize the chances of a pull through in this situation.

There should be an amount foot pounds it calls for them to be torqued to. I used a torque wrench to tighten all of mine. I think it was 14Lbs. for mine? I could be wrong on that #, but there should be a torque spec. they recomend, just the same.

So was I. Good luck breaking any stud now a days, they will bend flat/stretch before breaking.
another reason to use plastic backers, they will break before wrecking a track.

That pattern with the template used will only give you 12 scratch lines. The woody's template i used is set up for 18 scratch lines.

I just finished studding my sled with studboys studs but i bought a woody's universal because it has 18 scratch lines where as the studboy has only 12. There a few woody's timplates out there but look for the template that covers over 6 pitches instead of only 4.
This is with my 121" using 144 studs.
