I was just wondering what some of you guys do for workouts. I have a treadmill and an exercise bike and a whimpy 10 lb. weight. What do you do for workouts? I do it for about an hour before bed I do sit ups and curl ups and push ups and ride the bike. Any suggestions to build muscle just about everywhere with this equipment? What about cardiovascular? How long do you suggest? Thanks.

I jog 4 miles a day when I'm somewhere I have the chance to (like at home, etc). That's all I do. I should lift weights, but I just don't have the time.

Well since you want to build muscle you have the wrong equipment. I got on craigslist and snatched up a weight bench, bow flex, dumbells and eliptical. For Cardio I ride a road bike and when it is raining use the eliptical. I sometimes walk/jog with the ol' lady. But I do not do those that often anymore. I mostly hit the weight bench and bow flex and dumbells, combine that with some powder protein (I take it morning and night or when I work out) IMO. I have 2 isolates and a blend I am taking right now.

You need to exercise for specifically the result you want.

If you want lean cardio, jog.

If you want to bulk up, do low reps with big weight. Lift and throw big rocks, drag your sled around, etc, etc...

Play high school football. Thats what i do. Before school baseball starts and over the summer before football. We have team workouts. You go to the school gym and the coach will give you a personal workout for what you could work on. For football they also give you a workout sheet that has a new workout for each week so you keep gaining muscle. Im guesing that this is the same thing a gym would do but they probobly do it even better because you pay for it. I started mountain biking and that also helps alot with cardio and you gain endurance too.

We do what are called gassers, a half gasser is down and back across a football field. A full is down back down back so four full sprints. The half has to be in under 20 seconds and the full is 45. I also lift weights. I would say give your muscles a rest as in don't go to the wieght room and do bench press everytime. Switch it up with legs back chest and arms and shoulders.

I used to play football, but my ankles were hurt pretty bad and I got a lung infection every year. Currently I do this; I start at nine and I start with 75 slow sit ups. I then go on to as many slow push ups I can do and then I lift that little 10 pounder 100 times on each arm (and I barely feel anything anymore)and do more push ups. I then ride the bike on a high setting at a high rate for 20 minutes. I do this every night. What do you suggest to get more out of like sit ups and core? I feel like I am starting to not get the same out of it because it is getting easier, what could I do to make it harder? I think I will buy a 25lb. dumb bell and work with that as far as my arms. If you have any suggestions there too I am open to it! I don't have much money, or time so what I got now is going to have to do so whatever I can get done in that hr. will be appreciated. I will try to learn more about our school weight room though.

Take the dung bell and do different lifts with it. Like bent over rows, lateral raises, reverse flies, upright rows, and just go find something heavy to lift in both hands and shrug your shoulders. Your probably thinking a lot of mumble jumba but just look some of them up on google or something. I'll try to find a site for you in the morning after I hop out of the shower.

If u want to build muscle and bulk up youre gonna need some other equipment. A 10 lb. weight isnt gonna cut it. Low weight for high reps will just tone the muscle you have. High weight for low reps (sets of 6-8 is what I do) is what will build muscle and help you bulk up. At your age I wouldnt suggest taking any protein or anything like that. If you have a school gym take advantage of it. If not just keep doing push ups, try wide arm and close hand push ups, and do sit ups and crunches. Dont worry about getting a high amount of reps, work on your form first. Form is key, get good form then build up your reps.

-If you want to build your neck up and shoulders. Ten pounds will do fine. I use 12 pound weights for a shoulder complex and people like make fun of me till they try my complex. I'm not a small guy either. 6'2 260, and i'm not fat. College wrestling keeps me in good shape. In total you do 3 sets of 60 reps; 180 total reps. Do dumbbell raises at your sides 1 set of 10 holding the dumbbell flat, then another set of 10 rotating your arms so that your thumb points down. Then do that again at a 45 degree angle from your sides. Then do it again in front of your body. So 20 reps at each angle, per set. I guarantee that you will struggle. Do it slower, no rocking, to gain momentum; just focus on your muscle.

I bought that perfect pull up thing for 30 bucks and its not too bad. Supports my weight nicely without damaging anything. I can do a lot of different kinds of pull ups, then i pull it down and put it on the floor and do pushups based of the BFS program. I should really work my legs more but dont have time.

I must also recommend P90x. I just started it, and it's kicking my ass every day. I don't have any equipment yet, but all you really need is a variety of dumbells, a mat, and a chin-up bar. Not too bad, and very cheap.

It's NEVER a bad thing to give your body a rest once in a while. I used to workout alot when I was younger just can't seem to find much time or motivation for it these days. I need to start again! Keep working out with whatever you can until you can buy yourself more weights. Get a 5gallon pail and put water in it to do some curls for your arms, start out with whatever amount you can do for 6 to 10 reps and whatever exercise you're doing really concentrate and squeeze your contraction as much as possible. Don't worry about big heavy weight, work on your form and don't swing the weight or "cheat" to do the reps...after time you will be able to lift heavier. Also keep things mixed up every 4 to 8 weeks with your workouts or you'll plateau and your gains will stop. Try give each muscle group at least a day of rest, preferrably 2 to 3 days and try mix your workouts between upper and lower body. Bust your a$$, rest your body and EAT!!! Good luck man

Well, ride ur bike, run, pushups, sit ups, wall sits, a bridge, put that weight on ur back when u do pushups.

btw....excercising accounts for about 20% of fat loss or muscle build.
try to eat veggies or fruit. start each day with a glass of water.
try this: make a shake. put in milk and oj, muscle milk, greens, peanut butter, blueberries, a bannanna or 2, yogurt or yop, i think thats it.

also, weight lifting is the best.
believe it or not, the more muscle you have on ur body, ur muscles will keep growing thru the night.
or somin like that

Dude im in the same boat you are. In a college dorm, we get creative to get bigger.

For pushups i will wear a back pack full of my books and put my feet up on my desk chair. I will do 25 then 15 triangle ones then do that all over again.

For core i take a gallon of water and hold it over my head while laying on my back and do crunches. I also work my core with my desk chair. Take the chair and sit in it, the put ur hands on the front corners of the chair and lift your legs and ass off the chair. then balance there while bringing your knees up to your chest.

Tricepts and upper back I do dips in between mine and my roomates desk.

For legs i do pistols. I just hold one leg out straight and squat with the other leg.

I can rip all this off in about 45 min before class in the morning. Its not much but keeps me in shape. To get bigger ur prolly going to have to hit the gym and use some real weights.

I go to the gym. I doo weights then I do eliptical. This topic reminded me that I should start going back because I got distracted by school now and it is starting to show too.
