**** Son! hope you got a front loader to make a big enough landing for that thing.
with a 500+ lb sled speeding at that thing, make sure it is held down in all 4 corners of it so it doesn't fall forward. Also, make sure it can hold that kind of weight. It looks good but needs a TON more bracing...
but, GOOD WORK MEN!

I don't think I could trust my life to a wooden comp ramp. Maybe that's just me though. Not like I've ever gone off one or anything...

Doesn't really matter what speed you hit it, there is ALOT of forces acting upon the ramp. Between the direct force, and the vibrations resulting from them...your ramp has the possibility to loosen up quicker than a cheap date on prom night.

Nice!
I'm going to build a ramp out of snow this winter, then mist it with some water to get it hard. It will take me awhile with the 4x4 and a shovel, but it should be a good time.

Looks like a pretty good angle. I am a little sketchy minded with a wood design as well but I have seen them work on other sites with no reported problems. Here is my steel ramp I built a few years ago,has hundreds of hits on it and the only wear it has shown is on the plywood from the carbides.

Every pro ramp I've seen was out of metal. Looks solid to me and has a nice bend to it. How'd you bend the metal that good?

your gonna need metal plates on every joint along the side. butt joints are about as weak as kitten with the forces your dealing with. best of luck and i hope it works for ya but it looks like a Hot Rod style ending to me.

RMK-KING's ramp looks good. Why not abort your present mission and go to steel!?... For one thing it's going to be stronger, and easier to transport and replace decking with. I think it will last longer also? Once you get all the wood on that thing it's going to weigh a ton and maybe weaken in transport. I think eveyone here is just consernrd about your safety.

Make sure you take out a life insurance policy before using that...
At that angle, it's going to launch you way too straight up for the short lift, you'll never have time to level out to land. Unless you hit it haulin a$$, then I suggest using 4x4 and lots of supports instead of 2x4.

I would definitely not hit that while its made of wood. Wood doesn't stay strong or straight in snow for long. Trust me, my friends and i made a ski ramp, and just from a few weekends of use the beards were worped. They make them out of metal for reasons.

To say that thing is steep is an understatement, holy crap. I don't think I would hit it with a sled, even if it was all braced up. That thing is going to boot you SOO high, better have a landing that is at least 10-12 feet tall. Make sure to get video! Good luck!

I put the main rails under the rear differential of our semi in the shop, then just lifted and bent them to my liking.

Sorry guy, not me. Steel is your friend.
Depending on combined weight of you and your sleds, and speed, you could easily put 2000+ pounds of force on that thing. If you really prefer using wood, you better go waaaaay overboard building.
