bottom line......Dealers Fault....Cat isn't going to build a sled just for you with all the accessories you want, hence the word assessories usually added by the dealer!

MY PROFILE PIC IS THE SLED
im very sorry the sled is a 570 but it has a mod that makes it a 580 i dont know what thoe
Sorry pall but what you just said is nuckin futs. To get your 570 - its actually a 565- up to a 580 you would have to like stroke the crank out approximately 1.706896552mm, which is easily possible, but the power gains -especially in a 570 fan- wouldn't even be worth 1/10 of the effort to do so on a trail sled. No one makes a 580 kit and dont try to tell me that your grandpa's buddy from nam's brother machined you a custom one off stroker kit just for your sled.

More like... "Just when i thought they couldn't get any more stupid..."
and just a FYI. you need to remove the seat and tank to get the tunnel strips on...
not that hard. 2 bolts on the seat, and i believe 2 on the tank... (quinlan correct me if i'm wrong)

For one, that is a F570...NOT a 580.
Second, it probably did not come with tunnel protectors from the factory because they are not needed on a stock sled. Your 570 is fan cooled, not liquid. Since it is not liquid cooled, there are no heat exchangers under the tunnel, and thus nothing to protect.
Now, if you add studs, which are aftermarket, you may want tunnel protectors, which will also be aftermarket (or an accessory from Cat). They still are not needed, but can be added if wanted. All they will do is protect the tunnel from track slap. Tunnel protectors will not guarantee the studs will not hit the tunnel though.
Agreed.
I've been all over my brand new T500 which is very similar to the T570 (which is again very similar to your F570) in tunnel design and have found no reason to suspect that the track will cause any issues with the heat exchangers, even on my liquid cooled sled. What are you aiming to protect under there?
Quote originally posted by 2010_artic_cat_580
could any 1 tell me howto get all of the hood off
If I recall correctly, the cowling (hood) doesn't come off unless you unbolt it. The F570 has a flip up cowling to get to the oil and such (there's a small handle indent on either side beneath each headlight that will allow you to lift the panel) but the whole cowling doesn't raise up like a "traditional" snowmobile cowling. To get to the belts and such, there are rubber straps holding the side panels on.
Again, if I recall correctly, if you want to get a close look at the plugs and such, you can remove two bolts on the dash and slide the dash/headlight assembly forward.
Also, I can't find anything that would convert the 570 to a 580 and would have to wonder what the extra 10cc's on a fan cooled sled would really accomplish? The amount of work compared to the minute increase in performance would be more expensive than it's really worth...
Oh, and taking it apart and getting to the tunnel really is only 4 bolts as previously stated.
By the way, whoever said that the 570 is a crappy sled... why would you say that? It may not be the fastest thing on the trail but the motor is a proven design that is pretty durable....
