What do you think is the best snowmobile manufacturer - A forum I would like to start to discuss people's opinions on snowmobile manufracturers. This is not a forum where people go to swear and curse at other people about what snomwobile brand is the best. started by PolarisBoy1996

Hey guys, I would like to know what you personally think is the best snowmobile manufacturer. This isn't one of those forums like all the other ones where people end up yelling and cursing at other people about whcih brand is the best. Personally I am a Polaris guy, but I do believe Yamaha has superior sleds and technology. Please post what you think and why!

This could get interesting. I'm a Polaris guy, always have been, but I believe every brand has their own standpoint. Yamaha obviously has the 4-stroke game, Ski-Doo currently is doing the whole less weight its more thing, Polaris is opening new doors with the Rush, and Cat makes just an all around decent sled. I don't think there is 1 clear "best" But there are 4 companies that make a product that just about anybody can find a sled to fill their fit.

Honestly? Each and every manufacturer has good points and bad points about their sleds. I happen to respect them all. *shrug*

I happen do dig Arctic Cat because I've own Suzuki motorcycles for quite some time and AC's are powered by Suzuki. :)

I like the idea of this thread, but feel that it has some serious locking potential. Anyways, I am a polaris guy and always have been. I've always had good luck with them and they are reliable machines.

I would take a sled from each of the top 4, like stated they all have their goods and bads about them. I think my next sled just might be a Cat, not sure though because then I would have to get new gear :-p.

Ahah, there is alot of truth in that one.

Ok guys, after these first few comments, I've decided to change what this is really about, (I'm over the thriy min elapsed time thing so I can't actually change it) but instead of the best manufacturer, lets talk about the pros and cons of each brand or maybe knew concepts, I'll start a new thread.

The all have their pros and cons, but overall I would say Polaris is the best. In terms of performance, durability, comfort, light weight, customer service and handling they are as good or better than anyone.
I really like Yamaha too, but IMO they still lag behind in terms of suspension and they are heavy. Ski-Doos are nice but parts are really expensive and Arctic Cats are nice, but IMO their designs lately have been very uninspired and durability is questionable.

The best brand is not the same for everyone but, to figure out the best brand for you there is a simple two question test.

1) Which one do you have the most spare parts for
2) Which one has a dealer close by that is smart, not an @ss and gives good deals.

There is a AC dealer in town but he is an a$$ so I drive 25 mile one way to a AC/POL dealer and they are a nice as can be.

I started on an Arctic Cat but I almost have started with Polaris. Cats have been good to me. Guess it's also a little bit of brand loyalty. Every brand will have believers and skeptics, like what Quinlan said "Pick a color" even though the main color is black.

fugi and yamaha make great engines. most of them now make decent bodys that are comfy for sitting and standing riding. the 800 and larger 2 strokes are very dissapointing in the hp department, and not at all any better in gas milage compared to the old sleds. lately with skidoo trying a cheap piston design in there 600 a couple years ago and having huge problems with it then to have polaris do the same thing this past season with there 800 is a little embaressing.

I guess it all comes down to the rider. Where you ride makes a difference. If its strictly trail riding, yamaha makes sense becaue weight isn't an issue (not getting it stuck on a groomed trail lol) But if your going in the back country, some guys dont like the weight of the yamahas (a lot of guys are liking the power though). I've never really been a Yamaha guy but they seem the way to go for a new sled. Ski doo makes a good sled and they hold their value well. Arctic cat is the sled I've seen broken down most often so I've never really been to interested. I've always had polaris because there were polaris dealers all over the place around here more than any other dealer. if we were on a trail and our sled broke down, finding parts was easy. We haven't had the best luck recently with polaris but they are the least expensive sled these days so it seems more practical for me.
