What the hell.. what a bunch of crap. I know many people that are sitting out of work and sucking up unemployment and do not care to look for a job. What is usually 26 weeks is now 92!????

In WI if you lose your job with no call back date you must apply at 2 jobs per week and prove you actually did it.

That's exactly right. We've got masses on unemployment and they aren't even looking because the government will pay them for almost 2 years. Then there are the people that choose to stay on unemployment because it pays more than any job they can find. I understand that if everyone thats lost their job has no money, money can't make it into the local economy. But it's not right to pay someone for 2 years and they do nothing. I work my ass off and have no time for playing, where my neighbor plays all damn day everyday and gets paid for it. Makes me sick he can go snowmobiling all winter AGAIN and get paid by our government for doing it.
When hell freezes over I'll ride there too!!

I have a buddy that lives in a smaller town that got laid off. He has applied for tons and tons of jobs with no luck. He's now going out further and further to look for work, but nobody in that area is hiring or he's getting bumped by someone with more experience. Used to be a farmer, now a metalworker. I feel for him, as he had a really good paying job and all.
It's the people that are taking advantage of the unemployment that we always hear about, not the ones that are actually struggling. There should be a better way of deciding who gets it and who doesn't. Same goes with welfare cases and disability.
Some people I feel bad for, others I feel did it to themselves, so no sympathy.

Where you getting 92 weeks matt? i see up to 79...
Ya know i have no problem with the people that are on Unemployment that got laid off and are actively searching for work, no problem with that one bit, cause you do need money to pay the bills until you find something.
i do however have a BIG problem with those that make unemployment their daily job, and are fine with just sitting around collecting a check. shows they have no pride and take the easy way out and it is ridiculous.

Correct, I talk to people each week who will not accept a $10 job because unemployment pays more. It is not our governments job to take care of us. I can be compassionate and perhaps 26 weeks is enough, after that fish or cut bait.
But no worries, the government wants to have a hand in health care. What could possibly go wrong.
Good to see you on here again Rich.
I better slow down, I could have 450 posts by my 6th year.

So if it were a repub in office everything would be fine, right?
Stupid comment!
I bet if it was you not having any employment than it would be ok?
2 years is a little overboard and we all know some people will take advantage of the system, but do we punish the people who are out looking for employment because of the people who abuse it?
I know if I lost my job I would appreciate a safety net to help feed my family and keep a roof over my head.

So long as there is a politician in office, we the people will always get screwed. The government way of life, Support the lazy and Tax the motivated, no wonder america as a whole is getting fat and lazy...
Notice i did not say Osama... er... i mean Obama... or the republicans. i believe in equal opportunity, so i hate both parties equally for they are a bunch of ****ing idiots who's only agenda is to make sure they stuff as much of our money in their pockets as they can while in office.

Do other states have a requirement that the person actively look for work? In small town Wisconsin, it is pretty tough to find 2 employers every week to sign your sheet. Some just tell you, "we look through Job Service" and refuse to sign.
We have guys in our plant that have run into this and they have only been off for 4 weeks.
Find the line between respect and fear....then flirt with it

Time to look in other towns. You can call the place to see if they are hiring, just get there name when you call.
I see now that with the 7 week EUC benefits that you either have to send in the form each week or complete a electronic form.

I can somewhat support maybe an month extension since jobs are hard to get and after watching the stress my sister went thru when see almost ran out of unemployment was sickening.

I consider UE as part of my benefit package, since my employer pays that $$ in, since it is insurance.

Quote originally posted by MX86 Where you getting 92 weeks matt? i see up to 79... At the bottom of the report there is this quote "Because the recession officially began in December 2007, people getting the full 79 weeks could be running out of benefits and would be entitled to the 13-week extension." So 79+ 13 (another extension) = 92 laid back do what you want weeks. A bunch of people will be collecting over 41,000 free dollars. Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with unemployment but I do not think season jobs should receive it, and I do not think bums that don't look for work for 2 friggen years should receive it either. I was on it once before, I looked for work ASAP and found one fast, I did not do a damn thing other than look for work. I did job fairs, local training at a job bank, and everything. I know one guy that just went on vacation and is on unemployment, then what does he does he do in the next breath? Tells me the economy sucks and he can't find a job..

I was directing my comments at you. You have job to go back to correct? Also you probably do things on the side in that time right? I am directing my comments towards the slouches out there, which will milk unemplayment as long as possible.

Where you getting 92 weeks matt? i see up to 79...
Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with unemployment but I do not think season jobs should receive it,
I have tried looking for work in the winter months. Guess what they don't want to hire you because they know you are going back to work for your primary employer in the spring.
It's not the same as in the summer. They don't have "winter help".

I literally couldnt live with myself if I sat on my ass all day and did nothing. Honestly there almost needs to be no unemployment.
Who says that most or all laid off people arn't doing something. I know alot of guys that work just as hard in the summer as they do in the winter "off" months.
I know I do. If I was not allowed UE, I would be classified in the poverty level.
I consider UE as part of my benefit package, since my employer pays that $$ in, since it is insurance.
I was directing my comments at you. You have job to go back to correct? Also you probably do things on the side in that time right? I am directing my comments towards the slouches out there, which will milk unemplayment as long as possible.
Yes, I will go back to my job but the construction industry is getting real slow. Yes I work for myself, I try to stock up my families wood supply for the next year. I am hardly idle unless I am on here.

If our government took the amounts its going to waste on socialist health care to cover people who dont work and illegals and paying out unemployment extensions and focused it on generating jobs for the people who really need and want them, our childrens children wont get stuck paying for these idiotic plans.

.
Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
