Hey, all. I need help on how to identify an aftermarket cylinder head and exhaust can on a sled I bought. It's a 2003 RMK Vertical Edge 700 151". The previous owner said the can is a PSI Fat Pipe Single, and he didn't know what the head was, but just knew it has a high compression head. I can find no identifying marks on the head, no stamps or numbers or anything.
The sled also has an SLP airbox and 4 screened vents on the dash, other than that, the underhood appears pretty much stock.
What are some of my tuning issues going to be, with the head and exhaust being aftermarket? The previous owner was the second owner of the sled, and said the mods were complete when he bought the sled. Both he and the first owner only used the sled in the mountains, so I'm assuming it's clutched and jetted for altitude. How do I verify what the clutching is at? Included with the sled was an owners manual with a clutching/jetting guide, and on that guide is written "290 in main jets", which appears to be correct for 8000-10000, 30-50 f. With the aftermarket head and exhaust, will the numbers on that guide be way off? What should I be jetting the sled for, riding in Northern WI and MI's UP? I'd rather be on the safe side and lose a little performance than be right at the edge and blow up my new sled. Also, the secondary clutch seems to have about 1/16 inch of play, side to side on the shaft, is this normal or is it missing a bushing? Neither of my other sleds, both old indy's, have any play at all, but they are a completely different breed of sled, and this one has PERC reverse, too.
Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated! I'd especially appreciate if people can verify what brand the pipe is, and what, if anything, they can identify on the head, from the limited pics. Thanks in advance.

The clutch play is supposed to be about that amount. It looks like a psi pipe. They normally have that little ear on most of there pipes.
Pm madcow, he is a psi dealer and a clutching and pipe guy. He will really help you out.

I am not a psi dealer, they couldnt pay me to sell there crap. that looks like a psi side dump pipe, for tunning info they should have temp and elevation charts for you. as for the heads go, i would look for stock heads, on some of the mountain heads they arent designed to run at sea level and you might be required to run a race gas mix.

Thanks for the answers. How do Aaen and PSI pipes rate compared to the bigger brands like SLP? All I know is, this things pretty loud, a little more than I'd like, so I may switch to a different pipe/silencer combo. I like a sled to sound good, but this ones almost annoying. We'll see after I ride it this winter, if it makes a big difference in power or torque compared to similar sleds, then I prolly won't mind the noise, and I'll just be careful when in town and stuff.
I pulled the head, and it's an SLP, domes are marked 12-543mag/pto, so I may be all right after I change from the 290 main jets that are in it presently.

slp makes good stuff with the service to back it up. They are quiet pipes with a nice rumble.

Here's a link to SLP page that shows part numbers.
http://www.startinglineproducts.com/cata...ductID=161
I've jetted using 490 mains, so we'll see how that runs, and I'll go from there, tuning for a safe but fun setting, and while I was ripping the heads and carbs out, I found out this sled also has a Holtz ATAAC installed, so hopefully the 490s will work with the ATAAC/pipe/cheater head/intake. It should be a fun sled.
