I finally went to a motocross helmet last year, wish I would have done it sooner! I have the helmet, goggles with a quick attach clip and I can change the lenses out, I wear a thin balaclava under it, and I have a breath deflector inside of it. I got mine off of ebay for roughly $40 shipped, I figured that way I didn't have a pile of money into it and not like it.

^^I did the same thing I bought a Z1R helmet from Dennis Kirk for $35 and got a set of Scott goggles that comes with the nose piece and wear a balaclava under it. Love the setup and it was really cheap in the end. I spent $85 all together with the goggles, the helmet was origanally $130. If you want to try it check out Dennis Kirk for closeout deals they might still have some for cheap.

Just a motocross, doesn't have to be anything special. Some will say they are better, some will say otherwise, but I love mine. One thing I really like is it doesn't fog up at all, unless its warm out and I am sitting still for a while, other than that, clear all the time. And with mine, and there are a lot of goggles out there, you can change the lenses out quickly for different conditions and keep going. Its not to dark, to bright, or to hazy anymore like with my old helmet. I use to end up riding with my old one open way to much just to see.

Yes! You should be ready to go!
It should come with adhesive strips with velcro on one side that you put in the nose/chin area of your lid. Your breath deflector will have velcro on it so it can be removed or repositioned.
You will find the one you need on one of these pages:

I use a regular helmet, but I have a moto-x helmet as a backup... Moto-x is ok, except on the bitterly cold days. Rippin across a lake at 100+mph when it's 10f out can get chilly.
If I start to fog up in the regular helmet, I just crack the shield a notch or plug in the heated shield.

You want to make sure they are snow goggles, which will have a dual lens just like a lens on a full face snowmobile helmet instead of a street or dirt vrsion (single lens).

I wear both sytle helmets. Depends on the temps and how I will be riding. If I plan on doing alot of open riding across lakes I will wear the full face helmet.
If I am riding tight, twisty woods trails in +15*f then I wear the moto helmet. Both my helmets are winter use though. They have more insulation and less vents than a summer use.
I use single lens goggles and have never had them fog up. I really like my light sensative pro grip goggles.
Make sure you have a blaclavia that cover all of your skin when you have your goggles on, if not you will, guaranteed, get frost bit, which is not a happy deal. Ask anyone who has gotten it.

woodbooga: (WOOD-boog-ah), n. regional dialect, common to areas of New Hampshire and Maine including the towns of Ossipee, Alton, Farmington, Acton, and Lebanon; one who attempts to obtain free firewood to fuel woodburning appliances in an effort to mitigate expenses related to home heating with fossil fuels. Frequently used as a term of derision by non-woodburners who mock the presence of loose bark and other wood waste in the beds of their pickup trucks.

I got a moto-x comabt by KBc for free, they sent me me one to sponsor them, brnad new. I love how you can see so much more, how much lighter it is, and how when i put it on my head, i feel more safe than with my big clunky one.

Are afx helmets any good? My helmets gotten to small so I'm gonna make the switch to an mx style helmet. It would be the 17, the only one I really like.
