Hey guys, the carburetor boot on my Starlite is all cracked and I can't find one anywhere! I either need to know if somebody has a good one that they are offering to give up, or a way to seal it up so it doesn't crack all the way through and start sucking air, Thanks!

If ya can't find one to replace it goober it up with some good silicone, and WATCH CLOSELY FOR CRACKS as this can lead to piston scoring or a meltdown fast. I had a boot crack on my wildcat and didn't know it untill it started bogging when I would go through powder, and then noticed the crack. Later on I had the exhaust off and noticed that the piston on the side that was cracked had some scoring on it.

Yeah, I know thats exactly what I'm worried about, its cracked bad now, except they aren't all the way through. I'll try that though, thanks.

I ordered that exact one and got it in the mail today and it turned out to be the wrong one... Not to happy with Denniskirk right now. Would the next best thing to do just to load it up with silicone and than wrap it in electrical tape?

Does anybody else know if any other company claims to make a carburetor boot for a Starlite? Still need one.

God that sled seams to be ready for retirement lol. My friend used Rubberizer (think thats how u spell it) (its pretty much liquid rubber that u spray and then it hardens into rubber after a day or something) he used it on his carb boot but he did it a few times just to make sure. It lasted a whole winter until he finally found a different one and just replaced it.
So my solution, Rubberizer, sorry for the long story.
If you cant fix it with duct tape, tylnol, or band aids your screwed.

Well, it was on it's last leg when we bought it and frankly it still is. I'll have to look into that stuff because it seams like it would be a good fix. Quote originally posted by ZRT600

Ok, I have three options right now, either to find a new one that will fit (Odds aren't good), use some rubberizer to seal it up, use some automotive goop, or use some window neoprene that a family friend of ours told us to use. Hopefully I'll come up with a solution before it starts snowing!

Also, I have been given this idea (if I can't get the right boot, or sealing it up doesn't work) which is to find another boot with the same bolt pattern ect. , take the airbox off, put a K&N filter on the carburetor (30mm Mikuni), and than jet it accordingly. The hole reason the boot is angled is so the carburetor will fit into the airbox. Think that is a good if all else fails?

That's not the only reason it's angled, the mikuni float carb has to be level most of the time to function properly.

Oh, I never knew that, thanks for the info. That idea witht he K&N filter might not work than because I'm not too sure that theres enough room between the motor and the chasis to fit one in there.
