I started to polish up the tunnel on the Crossfire the other day and wow, those cutouts and sharp spots are a pain to polish around. Anybody have any tricks? I think if nobody has any tricks other than elbow grease or a powerball next weekend might be a long weekend.

Doing the crevices and cracks by hand is about the only way to go if you want to do it properly. The powerball works nicely on completely smooth surfaces, however the running board grips and tunnel supports on my pro-x just will rip it to shreds in a few minutes so i do most by hand. Its a lot of work but it pays off when you can see a nice reflection!

Thanks.
I was trying various polishes at the time. Wicked Metal Polish, White Diamond Metal Polish, Mothers Mag & Aluminum, Polishing compounds with sewn buffs, and so on.
The key I found was using whatever polish you want until you get somewhat of a reflection. Personally, I liked the Wicked Polish...it seemed to work quicker than the Mothers that most people use (though it, too, works). After you have a reflection, use Mothers BILLET polish. It is spendy, but it works. Every application of BILLET the reflection got a little clearer. I just kept going at it until I liked the finish.
I'm also trying something new this year. I bought a bottle of Zaino ClearSeal. It's supposed to lock in the shine for longer, allowing more time between polishes. A few people on HCS have used it with success. Time will tell if it works for me. I sure hope it does. It, too, was not cheap.

Wow, thats pretty good!
I never thought of the toothbrush idea, I'll have to try that, I've been spending an hour here and there doing my tunnel, and it's starting to get better, but I still have a LONG ways to go.

Depends on how meticulous you want to be. A polished tunnel will not stay shiny/polished very long. First couple rides and you will see a difference from the oxidizing.

ugh good idea about the toothbrush, i've been polishing tunnel and polishing rails to prep for anodizng. i got fustrated trying to hand polish rails so i'm bombin at them with powercone and its working so far. would waxing be the best bet to create a seal to make the polish last longer?

I just did my sled though im sure some of you already heard me talk about blue magic etc it looks awsome here is a pic of just the first time over! Oh and for the cutouts I like to use fluffy chunk of a towel or a shirt etc and use a flat head screw driver to push on it but make sure if you do try this to make it thick so you do not scratch your tunnel!!! 'not me in the pic'
Thanks,
Seth W
