That's irreparable. I wouldn't repair it, in my opinion. Looks like you might need to replace the entire tunnel.

What sled is it? It would be pretty difficult to fix without access to the proper tools. It could be done, but it probably wouldn't last very long and would look half assed.

SLP ceramic coated pipe with SLP can
V-force reeds
4 inch pivot riser
Gutted Air Box
EPI clutch kit soon to be installed

Well when i first got it, It had a light crease/bend in the foot board. But after jumping and riding it started to split open. Then it just kept getting bigger and bigger.

Would it help to just bolt a plate to try and hold it straight so the track drive straight?

That could be a temporary fix. You'll probably...or...you WILL break it in half sooner or later. It's just a Lynx so unless it has sentimental value...i'd "RIDE IT LIKE I STOLE IT".

If you're going to fix it be careful you wouldn't want to do a half assed job and have it break on you while riding and you end up hurting yourself.

Man, even if you are only doing like 20 or 30, if that thing breaks in half and falls, it could very easily come to a hualting stop and you would go FLYING. a tunnel for that thing should be cheap if you can find some guy who parted one out. Go to google, type in craigslist but do not click the link to craigslist. Instead use the search website right below the clickable link. This will search all craigslist listings in the country. search for: "parting out _________" i don't remember what you said your sled was but just fill in the blank. search for it once a week, One will turn up sooner or later.

If you get hurt, and didn't know something was wrong, is one thing. But to get hurt when you know of an unsafe condition is well, ummm not very smart.

Do the right thing and fix it correctly or replace it.

There is no substitute for good common sense or reasonable thinking.

Heck i would bang it out and take a nice size piece of aluminum and rivit it or bolt it on there. It would be beter than nothing.

It is only a beater sled because you abused it.

Only put a motor in that old 70's sled if you plan on riding in vintage groups or messing around in your field because you are bored and have NO other option and want to play around.

Keep looking for a chassis for that sled or look for another sled to buy.. and try not to abuse that one or we will have a nick name for you.

If i did put the motor in the 70's sled, it would only be used for vintage rides with our other vintage sleds, bringing it to the track to put around on. And possibly putting up and down the trail by my house.

I wouldnt say i "abused" the sled. When i got it 4 years ago it was beat to crap, Must have ran into a tree or something. Anyway, after trail riding, in minnesota, (rough trails) the tunnel started to crack more and more. Stupid mistake by me, i didnt fix it at its early state. Now im stuck with a sled thats falling in half...

I will be looking for a whole chassis, as it all needs work. If worst comes to worst, and i even "try" and mount it in the 70's sled, and no luck. I will scrap it out and save the good stuff. My little brother has a nice 1994 puma.
