Both my parents and brother swear by them. I have no real use for them. My goggles never fog and my polaris helmet is real good about not fogging unless it is very high humidity. Pm octane about his helmet.

woodbooga: (WOOD-boog-ah), n. regional dialect, common to areas of New Hampshire and Maine including the towns of Ossipee, Alton, Farmington, Acton, and Lebanon; one who attempts to obtain free firewood to fuel woodburning appliances in an effort to mitigate expenses related to home heating with fossil fuels. YES!!!! A big difference in cold weather or when it is snowing. I have had a heated shield for two seasons now and after just one ride in the above conditions do not know how I ever made it without one. Definetly worth the money! I am actually installing an RCA plug on my daughters sled this year and setting her up with the shield as well. Go get one, you'll never regret it!

I have not looked in a while , but thinking about getting one this year. Am I right that you would be looking at @ 50-100 bucks depending on which brand and model?

^^ Closer to $100 for a good helmet. If you wear a closed face helmet and you don't have a heated lense, you really need to get one. Not only helps with fogging issues but stops accumulation on outside when it's snowing, no more scraping your lense while riding down the trail.
When hell freezes over I'll ride there too!!

I had a heated shield on my helmet before I got contact lenses and converted over to goggles. It worked really well, eliminated the fogging. The only times it didn't help much was when there was a mist outside. Ice will still freeze to the outside of the shield when that happens, they don't get warm enough to prevent that. Other than that, I've been even more happy with the goggles but if for some reason I did need to go back to a full shield, it would definitely be another heated one.

Best $100 I've ever spent!!! Life saver in sub-zero, wet, icy snowy conditions. My HJC has a clip to keep the cord off to the side and I bought an extra extension to keep it out of my way. I know exactly what ACM is getting at.. I had to re-wire and move the location of my plug so I could stand up and corner without the cord coming unplugged.
