sledders will spend $8g for a new sled, $300 in studs, $500 for a new matching suit, $200 for a matching helmet, $200 for new riding boots, $50 for a gallon of special oil but will bitch to no end about spending $20-$30 for joining a snowmobile club ...which protects their entire existance and use of the machine they just bought.

Maybe all of us paying club members should not sign the trails, we'll see how the non members like riding then.

Or maybe we(club) members should have a warden start issuing tresspassing tickets to non club members riding on club trails....

Any other club members sick of the additude you receive from non members. I mean come on I don't get paid to mark over 6 miles of trail but I doi it so I can ride.

We as a group(sledders) need to help out the local clubs or there will be no local trails. I know of a club in a county next to mine that has 6 members. Somehow we need to get younger sledders to join the clubs and help out or this sport we love is going to die, with no trails.

I know this doesn't really affect the out west guys that much but it is getting bad in the mid west.

I donate the yearly fee to my local club simply because they mark trails. I know there are some good ones but mine sucks. I've yet to see the groomer in at least two seasons. Frankly, the members of my club are a bunch of tight assed, leather suit wearing dicks. I should start my own. Too bad groomers cost about a million bucks. I don't complain about the donation (they need it for maps ect, ect,), I complain about the work they do...or don't do. I won't mention the name of the club but it could use some better organization.

$20-$30 is the club dues, which $10 get sent to the AWSC, which is the Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs.
$15 per year(wi) snowmobile registration
We have no trail permit unless you don't register your machine.

I have no problem paying for the $25 it costs to sign up for the local club here. It's for a good cause, I know what you mean about people bitching about it though. I've argued with a few people on this topic before.

After getting yelled at last year by the club owner, for riding down the road on an XCR 700, because it wouldn't stay running, and I wasn't sure if it would even make it home, he said "Why the f*** dont you join the trail club!", so that night, I showed up at his house, with a bunch of friends, and my dad and his friends, and we ALL got a club membership.

I hear ya. I think Wisconsin should do like other states have and raise the cost of registration $30 a year if you are not a member of a Awsc club. This would help to get more money to the local clubs.

Here in NY

These are every year
Option 1 -100 bucks for registration if you do not join a club
Option 2 -join a club AND pay 45 for registration

Most people take option 2 because it is cheapest AND helps the clubs the most

option 2 here, and given free time on days doing signage I am more than willing to bust my a** to keep the trail systems alive....

And the 45 to nys per sled oh well, if it helps the clubs I am cool with that too.

Around here it is $25 for a family to join a club and then i think about $45 per sled to register them if your a club member. it is 70 per sled if your not a club member.

Right now I'm trying to get a section of trail re-opened so we don't have to run the friggin' road for two miles. I'll probably join the club that takes over that section of trail. I've heard too that they are having problems finding volunteers for grooming. I'd be glad to volunteer to do this. Or put up signs, trail maintenance, etc..

We are working on it. The CAP program. Last I heard it was going to be $45 per year. Not sure on the particulars just yet.
