I was looking at electropods on royal distributing, seemed cheap but i was wondering how durable they are. next, my 92 indy 650 died last winter.. It ran fine but kept getting harder and harder to start one day and then just didnt start. my mechanic said hes pretty dure its the cdi bo, but today i spayed some eyther in it and it fired right up and ran for about 2 seconds then died quickly. i sprayed more next time then it started again but ran longer hen died suddenly. does it sound like the cdi box?

No, it sounds to me like it isnt getting any gas. if it fires up with eyther that means it still has spark so i dont think it is the cdi.

try cleaning your carbs and making sure none of your gas lines are pluged and see if that helps.

Maby a pickup line fell off in the gas tank and now its not getting gas?

A way to test the line in your tank would be to cover the gas tank hole with ur hands and put ur mouth over it and blow. You will see gas run through the lines. Also you can just try adding more gas so its like a full tank and if it runs until your at half a tank and then dies its deffintly the line inside ur gas tank. I had this problem with my indy.

If you cant fix it with duct tape, tylnol, or band aids your screwed.

Do a compression test. Ether is more flammable than gas, so even with low compression, your sled would still start. Also, try NOT to run your sled for more than 2 or 3 seconds on ether. No oil is a good fast way to lose a motor.

sure check if gas comes dribbling out, but that only eliminates the pickup line in the tank option, i think you would still have to clean the carbs and make sure they arnt dirty or pluged up.

Good post, dident know either was more flamable then gas and i never even thought about there being no oil.

there was oil in each of the cylenders from when i put it away in the winter, thats why i used eyther.

Before i used eyther, i found the top part of the carb on the left cylinder, (the throttle wire goes in and its like attached to the plunger thing and you can screw/unscrew it by hand, sorry i dont know the terms!), it was unscrewed, it was still on, but it was unscrewed. so today u put just gas in each of the cylinders and if fired up and ran but then it stalled. so i pulled it agan and it idled but if i touched the gas it would bog. I let it idle then after a while i could rev it up.

i shut if off and went out an hour later and now it starts fine and runs fine. was the carb the problem? i dont want to just leave it so when winter comes it just doesnt start.. i already lost half of last winter.

I did pull the gas line off the carb and gas came pouring out.

the electro pods are cool but you should just save up and buy something else in my mind.do you have a battery in the 1992?if not you have to hard wire them in.i have them on my 1991 indy 400 inside the vents they look good but i wish i put them shining down the shocks would of looked way better.

next questions definitely clean the carbs.maybe someday you can come riding with us?i have relatives in drayton and my mom is from up there

What exactly are electropods, heard of them before but never really knew what they were?

those screws on top of the carbs are the throttle cable adjuster screws. they are used to take up any slack in the cables and used for adjusting the carb syncing. with the carbs out of sync it will start and idle but with all 3 cylinders not getting the same amount of air and fuel it will make it bog and possibly stall. make sure the carbs are synced correctly and try again.
