does anyone on this site have a pond? if so post up some pic's. Were looking to add onto ours next summer and were looking for ideas. I'll post pic's of ours later.

Owning a race sled is like having a totally hot girlfriend..... All of your friends want to see it, feel it and check it out..... They all want to know what it is like to ride it, but if they only knew how much time and money it takes to keep one up, they would call you a fool!

We had a pond, took up too much space so my dad started filling it in over the summer. Just finished it about a week ago.

I have two ponds at my place. One is kidney bean shape and the other is an oval. The kidney bean one I would like to get my brothers backhoe over here and make the two ends meet creating an island!

I am having a heck of a time with willow growing along the banks. I need get rid of those crappy things.

Have had a few really cool skating/hockey partys out there. Big bon-fire, good tunes, adult beverages, and under the lights:)

Just a heads up, be VERY careful with the Esko and Carlton county ordinances about putting ponds in. My oldest son owns his own excavating company and lives on the North Cloquet road. Got all of the permits, dug his own pond to their specs, then Carlton county came back and made him fill it back in because it was more than 6 feet deep but the permit didn't say anything about the depth.
He has dug many ponds in St. Louis county with no problems but will not do any more in Carlton county. Good luck.

The county hasn't said anything but we call it a "water garden"

these are pics from before we started it up this summer, it has four rivers and a fountain in the center. We have about 10 fish that live in it over the summer.

That looks really nice v-maxsledder! I didn't realize you were talking about a decorative garden/landscape pond.

I do have some suggestions from a design backround.

I think the lay out is fine. You just need to break it up a little bit. the orange/brown gravel in contrast to the natural gravel breaks up things well in terms of color.
Maybe you can:
- Incorporate some larger stone in a few places.
- Exagerate the falls more...more steps. not so gradual.
- Some Dwarf Spruce for more color and shape contrast.
- Try to make objects appear a little more random in their placement(add to the natural look)
I hope this gives you some ideas.
