I used to teach a firearms class for woman and boy scouts I have had a loaded gun waived in my face more than once ,It seems people are less intimidated by a stranger than someone they know, training is a not a bad idea .The problem i saw the most is woman close there eyes when they pull the trigger.

Doesn't really matter if you are right or not. Ultimately it is up to the father to decide what HE thinks is best for his daughter. If he doesn't want his daughter to be handling guns, then so be it. Just my two-bits ... Also moved to Off-Topic; not sled related.

A mountain lion roaming the prairie found a bull, killed it and ate the entire bull. With a heavy belly, unable to walk, the lion laid in the tall grass moaning and roaring. Soon a hunter, attracted by the roaring, shot and killed the lion.

Hm, you're 15 and already arguing with your girlfriend's father? Damn bro.... I don't have the balls to do that and I'm 24.
Bottom line, he has final say. If he doesn't want his daughter to take that class, then so be it. A 15 year old definitely wouldn't sway a decision I made about MY daughter (if I had one, that is...)
To be honest: He didn't want his daughter going hunting with you in the first place. He said she should take a class before going out not thinking you would go out and find her a slot. Yes, she should take a class before going out. But, what her father says, goes, as right as you think you are. Ultimately, he's more right than you are.

He has final say but it would be a great idea for herto take it. In MN you must have firearm safety in order to get a big game lisence but I don't know about MI.
-To ride or not to ride, what a stupid question!
-You should never judge a guy until you have walked a mile in his shoes, then you are a mile away and have his shoes
-Ice, snow, or grass, I'll still kick your ass.

15... Why you getting yourself tied down at that age? You shouldn't be taking a girl hunting you should be taking her...um never mind. Never ever ever ever ever argue with a father of a girl. EVER!!!!
Recognizing that I volunteered as a Ranger, fully knowing the hazards of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and high esprit de corps of the Rangers. Acknowledging the fact that a Ranger is a more elite soldier who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by land, sea, or air, I accept the fact that as a Ranger my country expects me to move further, faster and fight harder than any other soldier. Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task whatever it may be, one-hundred-percent and then some. Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and well-trained soldier. My courtesy to superior officers, neatness of dress and care of equipment shall set the example for others to follow. Energetically will I meet the enemies of my country. I shall defeat them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a Ranger word. I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy and under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my country. Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission though I be the lone survivor. Rangers Lead The Way!.."All the way!" <<<<<1st Bat, 75th>>>>>

Well first, why would you start off telling him what to do?? Minus points for you...second, why did you argue with him about it?? Minus some more points...what he says goes and honestly, if my imaginary daughter wanted to go out hunting with her 15 year old BF I'd say heeeeelllll no.

as the father of twin 21 year old daughters, i can tell you ,,,, dont argue with your GF'S dad. it gets you nothing but in the $hithouse with him now and on anything else you may want to propose to him,,, ever. not a good way to make brownie points with him. just get over it, he makes the decision when it comes to raising his kids. and take it from me. when it comes to a fathers little girls, he tends to be pretty protective of them. he has the say so.

As the others have said, you are wrong to argue with her dad, especially if you are 15. You alienate him and your life is going to get difficult. Save your anger for something important.
I do give you credit for taking the initiative to actually look for a class though. Good try.

I have only argued with my girlfriends dad once, well, once that was memorable enough. He didnt want her to go to nursing school, thought it was a waste of time. While I thought it was a good idea, it was her dream to go. He found out that i was the one that was inspiring her, and pulling for her to go, he didnt like that. We basically got in a pissing match and i finally said that it doesnt really matter what I or he wants, its her life, she's 22 years old. I like her dad, but we dont always see eye to eye. This is the same father that makes her be home by 11pm, no matter what night, and that still doesnt support her decisions to go to nursing school. Now shes doing good, but cant afford to live off by herself right now, and to keep the peace, were not moving in together, as I have my own place. Basically, I would say, try to keep the peace. If you do, her dad will realize that you'll take alot of BS to be with his daughter. I know my girlfriends dad sees that, and I think that after 3 years of dating, he's realizing that its more then just a fling, which probably doesnt make him too happy about the thought of losing her. lol
