Okay, since I'm away at school this winter and can't ride I'm buying all the snowmobile related magazines I can find. Just got done with Snowtechs issue and found a very interesting article on a new clutch by Team Industries.

Tied Drive Clutch.. where the sheaves open and close like normal, but they don't twist or rotate against each other. Says they use higher degree helix and lighter springs for better upshift/backshift and higher top end, all with less belt slippage. Article says they've already done extensive testing and a guy using this setup set an asphalt record in his first try.

Also Suburu is looking at putting a CVT transmission in some of their 2010 model cars.. a hydraulically controlled pair of pulleys with a link chain that runs between them.. there's even i cutaway pic of their new tranny..

I gotta say, Snowtech is one interesting read.. i would definately recommend this to everyone.. lots of good info on new sled technology and new products..

I have that one and def want to know more about this clutch. I think they said you add like 12 or 18 degrees or something like that. I run a 50-36, so does that mean I would run a 68-54 (assuming +18 deg) I wanna know if its the real deal or if Team basically just paid Snowtech to run an article/ad for them.

Nissan and I think Audi already use CVT technology. Im confused as to how they can run a chain instead of a belt. How the F does that work?

I think Snowtech is my favorite mag, and imo the most accurate report on new sled tech out of all the snowmobile mags out there.

Since the article lists SLP, Goodwin Performance, and others as testing the new clutch I would say that this is the real deal and not just an ad in the mag. I'm gonna be following this over the year and will definatly get one for next season when I can ride again..
