i found a new type of parking brake for the yamaha's yesterday, but i cant find the site now. they used the hydraulic brake as the parking, so no need for the cable. they work like the type you have on a fourwheeler. does anybody know who makes these or where there site is? thanks.

There was a guy who replied my question about not having my parking brake cable long enough for my handlebar riser. He told me Mountain Performance has a 'weightless pakring brake'...

It's 2/3's down the page. That may be your answer.

Let me know if you buy one and how it works. Have you found anything like that anywhere else?

This is kind of a redneck solution, but since the parking brake is cable actuated, couldn't the cable be lengthened? I haven't looked into it, but depending on how the cable is routed and sheathed, you could extend the cable using wire cable crimp connectors and an extra length of wire.
No idea if it would work, but just throwing it out there

I'm guessing that by putting a bar riser on, the stock parking brake cable isn't long enough. So, you'd have to cut the parking brake cable somewhere and crimp in an extension. I don't know where it would go, or there's even enough exposed cable to do it.
Another possibility, depending on the type of fittings at each end of the cable, would be to just buy a longer length of cable, and install new fittings on it. It would look and function like stock, but there would be no splice in the cable. I don't know if the fittings that connect the cable to the parking brake and lever are available separately though.

I bought a 2010 Nytro parking brake, knowing the bolt and threads had to be rigged with bigger washers and nuts to accomodate the larger bolt size from my 03MM compared to the tiny'er bolt on the Nytro. It didn't work.
I called a local bicycle shop and they said they haven't done one, they mostly do lefty's throttle cables. Talked to the guys where I bought the Nytro parking brake cable and they said that it takes 10-20 lbs to flip over the parking brake lever and that no cable clamps would work if you extended it out, they wouldn't hold the weight and force of flipping the lever. They also said that they dip the tip in lead or something to finalize it and that you can't get a longer cable made.
Went to a local splicing company here in Spokane and they couldn't do anything to lengthen it out because they didn't have the correct ends on either side, and they don't have anything that would hold the cables and weight of flipping the lever over to engage the parking brake.
I'm at a loss and $120 bucks is a little rich. I may take the plunge and just get a newer sled that already has the factory riser and be done with it!
What's your take guys?
