Well, went and filmed for Rave X and the Outer Limits Tour for their new video, was going great the whole day. The freestyle show was about 25 or so minutes in, when Darryl Tait went for a backflip off the super kicker ramp. Almost right away, a lot of people knew it was going to end bad. He slowed down during the rotation. On the landing, his skis caught, causing him to flip in front of the sled, and the sled did a full rotation, smashing the bumper into his back. The sled hit so hard on him it bent the bumper AT LEAST 3" down, as well as smashing the front during the initial hit.

So sorry........ this was horrible.

Dave was unsure of what had happened over an hour after the accident.
I don't need the video, I was there. If you were there, I was the kid with the camera out on the course.

Children....backflips ain't no joke. Perfect reason why someone with little experience should never even think about attempting one. Even experienced guys mess up and the results aren't good. Hopefully it's broken bone only and no spinal cord damage.

[ color=red]Yup I saw you filming!! We were standing at the end of the track right when he came up over the hill and you just knew it was not going to be good. I might have been just freaking out for the poor guy but I felt like it took forever to get the ambulance and med flight?? Where can we get updates on his condition??[/color=red]Quote originally posted by Sno-X-treme

Last I knew there were not many well exp. free stylers that could flip?? I may be wrong, that takes some skills!! He defenitly hit the first one sick then the second was a lil off and then the 3rd time was the last time.
Give the kid mad props for trying and hopefully it is just bone and nothing crazy, but it didnt look that way.

There are enough....it's not a huge crowd though. My point being some kids sit there talking stupid about wanting to flip and they aren't even experienced enough to hit a decent ramp. Free falling sleds are heavy and will come out the victor in every battle they have with muscle and bones.

I will keep you guys updated. If I don't hear from Dave until later on tomorrow, I will be sure to call him to make sure everythings okay, or just make sure it will be semi-okay. Doing a flip is not a joke, he's right. It's something that should not be attempted by newbies. I got a good picture of 3 sleds in the air ( pretty sure it was dane, daryll, and jeff ), with someone in the middle doing a flip. Amazing shot, taken with a 10mp action still camera. I also got it on video.

Just got this off another site. Someone posted a comment from http://ravexfreestyle.shutterfly.com/
"K L - 11 hours ago
Hello All,
I'm Darryl's cousin. We recently found out that Darryl is in the hospital with possibly a severed spinal cord and he has a punctured lung. He may be in surgery tomorrow if his other lung doesn't collapse. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated."
