I'm Darryl's cousin. We recently found out that Darryl is in the hospital with possibly a severed spinal cord and he has a punctured lung. He may be in surgery tomorrow if his other lung doesn't collapse. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated."

Man, you can even tell from the backside that he didn't have it almost right away. Looks like he landed right on the nose of the sled.
Yikes, hope he gets better.

Yup. I was shaky because I was wearing a sweatshirt and the sun went away, so i was a little cold. When its sunny out, you can see its pretty steady.

That's exactly what I said. Right from the start in the video, you could tell he wasn't gonna make the full rotation.

Got word back.
He IS paralyzed from the waste down, they are unsure at this point if its permanent. He also has a collapsed and punctured lung. He is suffering from severe internal bleeding, and they need to stop that before they can do anything else. At this point, they're unsure if he's going to make it. So so sad.

Why god why? Blair Morgan,David Baily, Doug Henry, Jeremy Lusk RIP, Cam Sinclair have all lost their thing that really makes them happy in life I hope he survives. I never like to so a fellow snowmobiler hurt This sport we call snowmobiling is one of the best sports in the world IMO. But like every sport there is a risk and extreme sports have a very high risk of injury or death I just hope he makes it. Everybody be safe this winter wear a tek-vest and most importantly keep the rubber side down

I plan on buying a tekvest for sure this year, even if it takes away from gas money, or if it takes a little longer to get my car registered.

Owning a race sled is like having a totally hot girlfriend..... All of your friends want to see it, feel it and check it out..... They all want to know what it is like to ride it, but if they only knew how much time and money it takes to keep one up, they would call you a fool!

This is more terrible news, he is an awesome rider...progressing insanely fast and allready one of the top canadian freestylers. Hopefully he pulls thru...prayers are with him and his family.
Stuff like this reminds everyone just how dangerous the sport (in general) is.
Makes me wonder how the sport can be made safer, if he was wearing a tekvest would it have helped? Anyone who has seen the video or witnessed it in person can vouch for how severe that impact was.
I'm pretty sure he wears a neck collar which is smart, alot of riders wear no neck support at all.

Same here, check out the new cheaper alpinestars one. Pretty sure thats what i'll be getting this season.

Ignorant post. Very disrespectful, all of those riders are among the best in the world and were still capable of winning and in no way "just sucking $$".

Tough news to say the least. I agree with always wearing the best protection. However not sure how much a tec vest would of helped in this situation? I remember being very surprised on Saturday when I saw a few back flips. I've always thought that was pretty rare for someone to do? I saw it a few years back when Jimmy Blaze did it on a phazer and even have a few photos of it.
My thoughts go out to everyone effected.

I never said they wern't the best. I ment they went out in the top of their profession, not just hanging around making 1 or 2 apperances a year just pulling money on their past and names.
