I have had the top end apart on my 91 formula plus, for all summer. Dumb idea,i know moisture. But what do i do now?
The pistions are not moving. They were fine at the beginning of the summer. Will oil somehow loosen them?

You can fill the cylinders with diesel fuel or some sort of penatrating oil and let it sit and see if that will help you break it loose.

Ok, so i can just pour it right over my pistons? Is this going to affect my engine? I know Diesel would be ok, right? I have a guy who runs an 80's sled on nothing but straight diesel. SI let it sit for a little while?

It will basically detonate your motor. Id say itd be worse then running 87 octane when you need race fuel. Yesterday we worked on our log splitter, which hasnt been sitting for more then 8 months, and she was locked up good. I think my brother put sprayed some PB blaster or something right in the spark plug hole and it freed up. And do you have any details on how he is running straight diesel? Id be surprised if a regular little block would hold up to the compression that a diesel needs to run. Plus itd need a special fuel system since you cant put a carburetor on a diesel. Id really like to see how it does, and how its set up to run on diesel.

go get a big bucket ,,and start soaking the parts ..before its to late .. use lots of oil .. chances are the crank is frozen solid at the bearings ,,lots of oil .. needed ..do not force ,,let them soak

Was it sitting in a garage? Covered? Do you think water got into the crank or was it just humidity? If no water got on there and its just a little rust binding the rings to the cylinder wall then spray some PB blaster in there and let it sit overnight. Then take a 2x4 and a hammer and LIGHTLY tap each piston a little bit, alternating a few hits on each piston then the other. If its not to bad it should free up pretty easy. But if it dosnt, I would pull the engine and start disassembling.
Good Luck

you could try to break it free by grabbing the primary clutch and trying to turn it carefully. i would only do it after it has soaked in something.

once moisture in motor will cause damage down the trail, disassemble all way down to crank, then clean and lube, have tech inspect crank bearings, cylinders and pistons, before reassembly with new gaskets and seals, you can just break it loose and it will run like all mentioned, but bet ya money it pukes, later water, metal, and air makes instant rust, rust will cause failure sooner or later, just like cancer attacks a body,it spreads till ya remove it completely.

It was in a garage, so it was just humidity or moisture in the air.
I let her soak, then see if it willw work.

There are carbed diesel engines, 2 strokes, I've worked on a couple, I'm almost positive they are Deutz engines. I'd really like to see how this sled runs on diesel, must be a diesel engine and not the original engine.
Make sure whatever you use you get out of the bottom end of the engine so you don't have any issues on start up. I would say if you have diesel handy to use that.

Ok, i cant fill up the cylinders, because one of the pistons is all the way down on its stroek, so it will just go into the rest of the engine.
I tried WD 40, didnt do anythign. I onlyt tried once. I turn the clutch, it just moves on its own.
For those interested in the diesel runnin gsled- its just a plain old yamaha bravo. Completly regular sled. One day he poured diesel in it, and it ran better than it did on gas. Nothing special to the sled, whoda thunk it!

I have a motorcycle and atv repair shop and have had a few that where locked up and i use a home mix I make from ATF and Blaster. I mix it 50/50 and it works every time. pour it on top of pistons and let sit over night and try rolling the motor over by the crank in the morning.

Thats not as crazy as it sounds, I have watch guys use coke for a lot of different things, like polishing chrome, removing surface rust, etc. I had it explained to me how it worked, but I can't remember off hand exactly what it was that causes it to eat away at this stuff.

Something to do with the acidity in colas. Coke was most well know for this. Back when I was in high school we took a totaly rusted nail and cleaned it with Coke.
BTW, I know people who use it to tenderize ducks. I know-just slightly off topic.
