really, you are almost as ignorant as sean used to be...
when the piston gets groved or scored on the sidewalls it then alows a air/fuel mixture by wich creates a blowby effect (creates that nasty brown stuff on the sides if you have ever actually taken a motor appart)(which you probably haven't so i'll assume thats were your comments are comming from)
Me ignorant? Hardly, I just like stirring the pot with know-it-all's. I've rebuilt more motors then you are old. I'm calling you out on your stupid statements that the scoring on the HEAD creates blow by. Then you corrected the terminology and said the top of the piston which still is completely incorrect for the cause of loosing compression. The top of the piston doesn't effect ring seal, unless there's alot of carbon that's working it's way loose. Then that acts like sandpaper on the cylinder walls.

They have slight wear. No scratches or anything. Tons of carbon, and oil stain on them. I have 3 GOOD cylindes, so I'm selling the good and bad one, and using the 2 other good cylinders. No need for doing a bore, or a renic. I've been told not to re-use pistons, but you can do it with cars and stuff, why can't you do it with sleds. Just re-ring it for a lot cheaper.
You can reuse pistons, but definitely spec them out. This explains it relatively well....

i dont screw aorund with used parts, i go on 1000 mile trips and i want it tip top. I buy all new and rebuild when in doubt. Although it does depend on the budget for each person. best reccomendation is go new.. with as much as you can. Just figured i throw my 2 cents in...

you are a douche, that was a list of issues that the pistons could have you retard re-read it and try to put 1+1=2.....
and built more then ive been alive ehh lol your a fuuny ****er.....
Silly girl. Racing moto for 8 years, 2 rebuilds a year, + buying numerous sleds and rebuilding them and helping friends with theirs....it adds up and quite a few have been full rebuilds down to the crank...and with the bikes splitting the tranny apart and going through that. But I'll admit it, you know everything. My bad for challenging your vast knowledge.

Got the bottom end out today. I never realized how easy it is to take one of these out. The hardest part of it all was taking the oil pump trigger ( or whatever its called ) off of the oil pump!

Yup they're very simple to take apart, and take out of the chassis for that matter. You are splitting the cases right? For popping the clutch off tilt the motor with the clutch side uphill and pour some oil or water down the hole. You can take a bolt with the same threads as the center bolt, put teflon tape on the threads, and thread it in. It'll create a water tight seal and hydraulically pop that clutch off. Cheap and effective option vs. buying a puller. The flywheel you can just use a standard steering wheel puller style puller IIRC. Don't use one that hooks on the backside of the flywheel. Take the stator out, pull all the case and waterpump bolts off and the cases will split. As a future note, it's easier to take the flywheel and clutch off before you pull the cylinders. Then you don't have to worry about accidentally spinning the crank and having the pistons jam.

One side, the bearing is still, incredibly, good! In both!!! As for the bad bearing, I have no idea how it even made it to that point.

I may have accidentally said $1200 somewhere, but I paid $1100 for it. I can't remember if it was here or HCS I said 1200.

Dude, honestly, I'm looking at those pistons and I wouldn't personally reuse them. For $120 you have peace of mind and some brand new pistons. When I redid my engine last season I only did the PTO cyl/piston, but only because the MAG side was pristine. If you're getting that much crap in the case, no use in taking a chance.
