Decided I'm going to try out a mx style helmet this season as oppossed to my brp modular, can I buy just any mx style helmet and throw a breath deflector in it and call it good? There's not as much of a selection of snow specific open face helmets and id like to wear it in the summer time on a quad, any suggestions?

HJC is good quality, not super expensive, Good HJC breath deflector to mate with it (You will have to buy it seperate though @$10.00)
here is mine with HJC breath deflector, quick Strap and Scott goggles:
There are some open faces that are not going to work well for snow applications!

If you buy a helmet you cannot get a breath deflector for, you can usually retrofit one from another company. I used my HJC breath deflector in my new Fox helmet. Fox does make their own deflectors, but I've read poor reviews on them. All I had to do was glue some velcro inside the helmet, and I was good to go.
I've used an HJC motoX helmet for riding both sled and quad the last few years. Never had any problems with it. Like mentioned HJC helmets are easy to get deflectors for. This summer I ordered a Fox V2 helmet for riding sled. This will be my first season with the Fox, so we'll see how I like it.

Those Moto 8's are some badass helmets, unfortunately i dont have 400 bucks to drop on a lid right now, and i havent had a chance to ride with a mx style so im not sure if i'll like it or not, if i end up liking it i'll probably get a more expensive helmet

I have a HJC Burn with deflector, and Castle goggles with Roko quick strap. Helmet is nice and light, fits great, get 'em for about $80, removable pads for washin at the end of the season. Goggles are great, but dont think the yellow/amber tint is the cats ass like i was told. would love a pair of Pro-Vue goggles.

I have a HJC sapien helmet( i think thats what its called ). I love the HJC helmets. as for goggles if you were wondering, i have tried smith, spy, and scott. I think smith makes the best goggles for snowmobiling, never had a problem with them. Except i left them in the trunk of my seat and a spot got wore on the lense so i have a blurry spot

I wear mx style but this year I went and bought one of the Gmax two in ones that can be a mx or a close face. I hope it works good. Get a breath box and a good set of goggles and you should be all set. I havent got cold yet.

retail for $180 isn't a bad price. I like the looks of them but would really want to try one on first.
