Bad timing on HD's part. Didn't Buell just win the superbike series?? I honestly am not a Harley fan, but I had the chance to ride a buddys Buell, and it was an Awesome machine, torque monster, handled the twists and curves like it was on rails.
You're right, racer Danny Eslick won the '09 Daytona Sportbike title by 5 points over Herrin's R6. It does seem like a bad decision since Buell gave Harley more than one dimension in the motorcycle industry. Word is HD will also be trying to sell off MV Agusta....an Italian sportbike company they just bought! Is that a sign of bad economic times or just poor management? Also have heard rumors of Buell being resurrected by another company or group of investors.
I was hoping Buell would be bought up by someone, but I doubt they'd be able to use the HD twins. And watching the Erik Buell video clip and reading the FAQS on Buells website I got the feeling that Erik is under contract with Harley. He made a comment about continuing to help Harley design and manufaturing bikes. just my 2 pennies
you can see his influence in the sportster xr1200r

You two arguing a V-twin vs. an I-4 are wasting your time. Different HP and Torque at different RPM's so your numbers are stupid. It is like comparing a twin vs triple snowmobile.
I am pissed buell is scheduled to go bye bye.. I wanted to buy a Ulysses next year or so! Now I will be forced to by a suzuki vstrom when I buy. Damn it.

If we can't argue about engine design, what can we argue about. come on matt, you of all people knows that sledders and bikers will argue about anything just to talk about them

You never know how things will work out. Some conglomerat may buy them up, purchase engines from hd or buy them in parts like other bike builders do and continue production.

Well this almost got me. 3 coworkers pulled in the parking lot with new 1125r's. They paid 4,500 bucks for them!!! I called the dealer to buy one for that price, what the heck. But he was sold out. I called 10 more dealers. I found 10 in PA for 5,500 bucks. I told him I would show up and buy 3 bikes for the 4500 price that a dealer in NY sold to my coworkers. Me and two other guys said we would buy for 4,500.. but the guy said no deal. So we let them sit. None of us really wanted an 1125r because of comfort reasons.
I really wanted a ulysesses XT but the best deal I could find was 8200. I told the dealer on the phone if he would do 6 grand I would come pick it up. He declined.
Here is the XT I want

Actually the V-4 is the superior motor. Gives you the torque of the twin and horsepower of Inline 4.
It's the best of both worlds.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.
