Okay, so today I took my first visit to a snowmobile dealer and now am looking at a Yamaha rather than a SkiDoo. I am a SeaDoo rider on the water in the summer so, of course, I had a preference for the Bombardier, however, after checking them out side by side I am now leaning toward the Yamaha. Any comments from riders of both out there?
And I am looking at the Apex GT but probably don't need that much speed. My ego, however, likes the idea of being able to be one of the fastest in the pack. Should I get the RS Vector GT or stick to the Apex GT? Oh, and what about the LTX vs the straight GT? My brother in law says no one rides the LTX but I do like a more comfortable ride. Is there that much difference in the LTX?

Well I don't know where you live but in Canada there is no longer a Base Model Vector for 2010. The differences between the Vector GT and Vector LTX GT is that the LTX has a 136" track instead of the 121" on the regular GT. The LTX will bridge the small "studder" bumps better than the Base GT because of its longer skid. I couldn't tell you how either one of them ride because I haven't ridden either one but I can tell you its more of a personal choice kind of thing. As far as the choice between the Apex and the Vector, it is also a personal choice. If you want to have the fastest Yamaha, get the apex. If you don't mind being a little bit slower then the Apex, get the Vector. With EFI in the vector this year, I think the Vector is probably the best bang for buck Yamaha.

Well if your a big trail rider i would get the ltx it has a nicer ride. Vector is nice to has 140 hp apex has 150 so i dont think you would feel that much difference in the two.

Oh and what your brother in law said about no one riding ltx a lot of people ive noticed have it.

Vector is quoted as having 126hp from yamaha. The carbed Vector was 120hp, the new EFI mill has a little more and gets better mpg. Personally I would buy the Vector over the Apex, actually I did in 2008. For me, the lighter handling, better fuel economy of the Vector won me over. You need to decide what you want/need.

If I were to buy a new sled this year I think I would go with the vector ltx, I think the Apex is overpriced.

I just got a 2009 leftover APEX. It looks like a great sled and had a nice rebate associated with it. Highly recommended by friends.
