Well before I returned the handguards because they where the wrong mount kit(will be ordering the correct mounting kit tommorrow) I noticed that my windshield was just a touch to big. I figured I could cut my windshield an inch or 2(just enough for it to fit correctly and still do it's job). Could anyone give me a quick how to on how to do it?

I appreciate the help.

Try searching for Cutting Windshield, Trimming Windshield, etc. It has been covered many times with different opinions.

A mountain lion roaming the prairie found a bull, killed it and ate the entire bull. With a heavy belly, unable to walk, the lion laid in the tall grass moaning and roaring. Soon a hunter, attracted by the roaring, shot and killed the lion. Moral: When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut!

i've got kind of a weird method, but it worked good, I drew my lines, in the last one i did i happenned to use a chalk line for layout, then i drilled holes every inch or so right above the line (to keep from losing the line) and then i connected the dots with a pair of tin snips, with the holes every inch or so you can get a nice cut with just one snip, i've cut them with snips without holes and it always seemed like i ended up with a pretty wavy line getting a little carried away with the snips

how do you take off the trim? Just pull or should I heat it up?

^I just grabbed the end of it and slowly pulled it off.
I used tin snips for cutting my windshield down.

Tin snips work the best, I used masking tape for a nice line to cut along, take your time and it will work great.

Well this is how it came out:

Wasnt to bad for not having tin shears that were sharp, i probably would have used them. I used a cutting tool that i cant remember the name of.

The first time I did mine I used a roto zip, the second time I used the tin snips, both worked well. And sometimes the trim won't just pull off, I stuck mine in the bathtub full of hot water for a few minutes and it pulled right off.

I think it looks pretty good, maybe just a bit taller on the left side, could just be the pic though. On mine after I cut it down I painted the inside of it black also, just for looks.

I don't know if you did this or not but my advice for the next time you do it is to do it in your basement. The warmer it is the easier it will cut.

Would one of those roto-zips work good for cutting windshields?
