I had my charger take a crap, so I bought a new charger. It worked fine. Then 1 battery would not take a charge. Now both won't take a charge. There is a red charge light and a yellow evaluating light. Istarts off with the red light but then about 3 seconds later the yellow light comes on. I left it on all night and nothing???? are the batteries wore out and I need new ones???

woodbooga: (WOOD-boog-ah), n. regional dialect, common to areas of New Hampshire and Maine including the towns of Ossipee, Alton, Farmington, Acton, and Lebanon; one who attempts to obtain free firewood to fuel woodburning appliances in an effort to mitigate expenses related to home heating with fossil fuels. Frequently used as a term of derision by non-woodburners who mock the presence of loose bark and other wood waste in the beds of their pickup trucks.

At the price for 2 batteries and shipping I might as well buy a new drill. Batteries are $50(2 of them) and with shipping it is $71.71. Nearly the cost of a whole new set up.??????

who makes the drill?? do you know what battery types?? I know that my Li-Ion (litium ion) battery can go to zero power and still take a full charge, and I can leave it sit for a while and still charge again.. and it's about 3 years old and both batteries are still good...

more than likely they are black and decker. I bought one at the local sears store. Computer(website) said there were none in the store. Well I went there and there was over 10.
Put it on the charger and it is taking a charge. SO the original batteries must be bad.

^^^"Might as well get a new drill."

That is just what I was going to recomend. If you can wait until Thanksgiving, Sears usually has some awesome deals on power tools. I got a 19 volt last year with the rechargeable light and extra batterie for 39.00! It was regular 79.00

I am going to pick up another battery a few weeks down the road. I really liked the 19v lith ion milwaukees but at $200 it's more than I can swing till spring.

you can re-cycle the batteries to see if they will work again. use a 12v battery charger and charge them up then hook up a 12v fan to it and discharge it and do that a few times and see if the 18v charger for the drill will start to charge them again. ive done this on a few older 14.4 packs and it worked and i got another 8 months out of the batteries.

nicads suck, no way around it. you have to treat them like royalty to get them to last. 7+ years, that's actually really good for a drill battery. also if you do get a new craftsman drill, the 19.2 batty are less then $30 to replace and the newer chargers support a 1 hours quick charge. but make sure you get the good drill, there is about 3 versions of teh 19.2, one of them is single speed and only puts out about 200in/lb or torque while the other one is a 2 speed and delivers about 420in/lb of torque. then there is the hamerdrill but that one is a good bit more money.

For the price of your batteries i would love to be paying that, the batteries for my old snap on impact and light were over 100 bucks a piece and usualy didn't last 2 years. My new impact and light have updated batteries that are soppused to last longer and be cheaper- mid 90s.

I spend money i don't have, on parts i don't need, to impress people i don't know.
