Im looking at buying a 2003 yamaha rx1 that has a stage 2 turbo and he says has about 250hp however he said the sled needs jackshaft bearings, track and the motor needs tuned up. Hes asking 6500 canadian for it what do you guys think. The add says the sled has 4000kms on it. I sent him another email asking about how long the turbo has been on. This would be my first 4 stroke sled as well as first turbo sled. Anything i should be looking out for and how reliable are we talking this sled would be. Thanks guys.

I don't know much about the market for boosted sleds, but 6200 USD for a 6 year old modded sled with 2500 miles on it that needs work seems pricey.
The fact that he's blown out the jackshaft bearings and the track already means to me either: a)the sled has been rode hard, b)the drivetrain is not setup to handle the extra power, or c)the owner didn't take very good care of his machine. Also, what else in the drivetrain is bad if those are already gone? Clutches, chaincase, driveshaft, other bearings, etc.
I'm no carb expert either, but tuning a turbo'ed sled with carbs isn't the easiest thing to do. If it already runs like crap, there's a good chance that you could be opening up a can of worms trying to get it tuned properly. It could be as simple as dirty carbs, or it could be undoing a novices failed attempt at tuning carbs with a turbo.
As far as reliability, the engine is very reliable as long as the owner has kept up with oil changes and made sure the engine has oil. Chassis-wise, I'd take a fine tooth comb over it and make sure all the bearings are free and nothing is tweaked.

carb tunning on turbos is not a big deal if everything was built right in the first place with proper boost reference and air/ fuel jets. I've seen moree carbed turbos run much better than fuel injected turbos with band aid fuel boxs
