Unbolt the bars and either measure the amount of room you have or find a block of wood and place in under the bars/clamp to the steering plate. Look under the hood, you might be able to undo some zip ties to get more cable free. Make sure that you can move the bars all the way in each direction.

woodbooga: (WOOD-boog-ah), n. regional dialect, common to areas of New Hampshire and Maine including the towns of Ossipee, Alton, Farmington, Acton, and Lebanon; one who attempts to obtain free firewood to fuel woodburning appliances in an effort to mitigate expenses related to home heating with fossil fuels. Frequently used as a term of derision by non-woodburners who mock the presence of loose bark and other wood waste in the beds of their pickup trucks.

I put on a 2 inch riser and had to reroute the throttle cable because the oil pump cable was opening too far and still staying fairly open when idlying causing my sled to burn too much oil. Make sure you can turn the skis both ways without the cables tugging on the handlebars. If that happens watch the oil pump cable.

I got a 3" on mine but I moved the throttle over a little bit to give it a little more slack.

I went with 2 inches with no extension. But did notice on the first start that the throttle was opening a bit. So I had to rerun the cable. Fixed since then. And just bought some powermadd supplies tonight from another SF member that I will be putting on tommorow. :D Also this was on my polaris ultra spx 1997. Good luck with your decision :D
