Before I put my 650 Tripple motor together for my 93 RXL I was thinking of cleaning up the transfer ports with a small die grinder. Has anyone else done this and get anything out of it performance wise??

If it ain't broke, MOD it!!

I've done this, polishing the ports with a dremil tool and grinder/sander bit.. just smoothed out the passages.. can't really notice any difference but hear it's supposed to be better for the airflow and such..

thats a very risky move if you have never done it! you take to much out and that jug is junk!! thats y its expensive to have some one do it. but you wont notice much diff unless ur running aginst the same sled thats stock or a dyno. its good in the long run if your doing mor mods

if there are much casting errors, do it ! :) but be very carefull, dont remove moore metal than neccesary, only the bumps and lumps from the casting. and dont touch the port windows.

and dont make the sufaces to smooth, it needs to be a little rough...

There are some that believe the roughness mixes the fuel/air mixture better than smooth. Just an FYI. Who's right, I have no idea.

Well it would make more sense to me that some roughness would keep the air fuel spinning better to keep it atomized. I dont have proof but thats what i believe

Having the surface rough with the large fuel droplets from a carb, can keep the droplets suspended in the air instead of settling to the surface.

But with the smaller atomized particles from an injector, turbulence is, well, turbulence, and will impede airflow.

YMMV
