I just bought this 2003 RX1 sled with 3300 mi. I noticed today that its running really rich and I have the engine light flashing at me and the ;exclammer; light staying on.
Also, I noticed that the engine when idling tends to make a light knocking/lifter noise.

If ANYONE knows whats going on or had the similar problem please let me know.

Thanks

knocking noise is probly coming from bad gas, guy bthat owned may have used regular gas. put in an octane booster and see what happens. can"t help witht he ligt problems though.

Octane Booster isn't gonna do anything except make your wallet lighter.

Check the oil level.

I'm going to change the oil and see what that does. I ordered a full service manual so I'm going to go through the carbs also.

make sure your oil level is where it should be, and the light knocking is prolly coming from the gearbox next to the clutch they all rattle at a low idle try turning the idle up a little this will usually take care of it

The Rattle/knock noise you hear is coming from the clutch. i have an 03 and an 04 and they do it. Check ALL fluids, and any wire connections. the symbols you are describing i have never had myself, but heard it can be a wiring short, bad sensor, CDI box etc. Defenitley check out your TORS.(Throttle over ride sensor) does the sled run and idle good? Does it bog or stall on low to mid range RPM when you get on it?..........

Dirty carbs wont cause a signal to go off. Octane booster will make your sled run like ****. stock Rx1/Apex/Attak etc will run dirty and boggy on premium. Unless the sled it turbo charged or modded to run high octane fuel, just run clean regular unleaded. Never gas the throttle when you cold start the sled on choke and the "low coolant indicator light" is flashing. It will foul your plugs totally. You wont regret buying the sled when you have it all dialed in and running good. Now all you need to do is buy an Apex seat, 4 inch bar riser, clutch kit, Air box Mod, Bigger Jets, and Holtmann CV carb slide springs and you'll be ready to kick ass!

O and a new aggressive track! the stock predator track is terrible other than on super packed trails and cruising on a frozen lake. Let me know if you figure out what was causing the warning lights

The sled runs fine when you get on it. The idle is really rough and runs REALLY rich. Also, when you turn the idle up around 1300rpm and you give it gas, the engine wont idle back down. REALLY wierd.
THe CEL (check engine light) is not from the cold/low coolant. Its the acutaly CEL with the MIL (malfunction indicator light)and they flash at the same time which in the manual says thats usually bad.
I ordered a full service manual and hopefully it will tell me whats going on.

ok so I changed the oil and plugs. I can hear where the knock sounds is comming from and heard that was normal for these sleds...not too worried about that anymore. But I still have the Engine light with warning indicator still flashing. I ordered a service manual....this should give me a flow chart of some sort shouldnt it...?
Also, I noticed on 2 of the carbs that some of the gas was comming out of the carbs and into these vacuum lines that directed the gas to the ground. There was a substantial amount of gas comming out and I know that isnt right.

anyone have an idea?
