I just bought a 1998 polaris xc 700. The previous owner put a 1.25" paddl etrack on it. Only on one side there are about 10 lugs missing. The woven thread is showing through. I was wondering if the is a good product I can put on that to sealit up and keep the rubber from pealing. Thanks for any help.

I have used a propane torch on tracks where studs have pulled thru to try to "coterize" the rip from tearing further. I am not sure if there is a product that you can put on there to help further tearing. The guy you bought it from must have done a lot a side carving with the sled in low snow conditions so try to avoid doing that!

x2

i learned the hard way on that a few years back. and tracks aren't cheap, lesson well learned.

depending how bad the track is in for shape and if you have the extra money. but im sure you can run it for awhile until u find a track or it is completely destroys.

The track really isn't that bad. It's only one side and its pretty clean tears just where the lugs caught and ripped. I read somethig about flexane i wondered if anybody had any experiece with it. I just kinda want to seal it up with something flexible enough to round the wheels without cracking like epoxy would. Other than that the track is really good almost brand new.

if your track blows out out on a trail somewhere, towing it back will be pretty difficult on just the sliders... you would be surprised how much tension is put on the track when you are going 60 - 90 mph... wont take much to blow out a track if its already starting to tear.

what u mean by tore a little???

missing lugs u can still run the track its when the windows or the actual track has tears in it. my dad is running 1 3/4" paddle track with 4 missing lugs and 2 torn lugs. track wise its all right with no rips or tears in the track. just missing lugs. been like that for the last 700 miles no problems

Ya id like to see some pictures myself, but I wouldnt risk it if it were my sled that track would be in the garbage already, I had a friend rip a track up last year and his wasnt even showing much thread yet... we towed it to a road then I had to ride two hours to get a truck and trailer, not how I wanted to spend half my day :( ... Do u really wanna risk losing a track out in BFE and then losing couple weeks of riding repairing your sled?
(Nothing worse then working on your sled with white stuff on the ground when ur friends are ripping)

If u keep the track on, dont ride alone and make sure u got a tow strap.

I see people stuck on the trails every year because the refuse to put the money, time and maint. into their sleds. I can't believe what some people ride out there.

It is a safety issue, replace it. Your nor going to find anything to patch it
up that will hold up.

Might not be the answer you want to hear, but its reality.

Yes there is, or at least was. I had a track repaired by this guy, and still running it today on my SKS700. Did a great job

Just replace it. The track blew on my 97 ultra when my dads friend was riding it and the track didnt fly out the back but it went off to the side and the sled rolled. He broke his neck, had a concussion, and broke 2 ribs. Blowing a track is dangerous.

I looked alot closer at it and it's junk. It's either a 1.25 or 1.5 and it's too tall for the sled. Doe sanybody have a good track they want to sell. I guess something woth like 1 inch lugs would be best. I don't realy wan to spend more than like 100 bucks or something like that. If someone has one they wanna sell let me know
