on my 95 xlt 600sks i believe i have 34mm mikuni carbs. would bigger carbs create more power or is it just a waste of money. and i have a 133" track and i want to go bigger. where can i find a kit for this. all i can find is kits for 121" and 136".

SLP makes rail extensions for track extensions so check with them.

if your sled wasnt originally equiped with the 38mm carbs, adding them will hurt your performance. youre motor isnt designed to run them. find a set of pipes and set up the clutching properly.

Adding bigger carbs to a stock engine will only create trouble. If you had piped and ported your engine then bigger carbs would be a plus.

As far as getting a longer track. Look for a set of 136-144 extension (thats an extra 8") add those to your 133 (133+ 8 = 141) Then find a 141" 2.52 pitch track. But with your stock chassis you're going to have to find one thats probably 1.25" or smaller lugged.

Like "bigwedgies" said though, if your sled hadn't come with factory equiped 38mm carbs than don't put a set on because your motor is not designed to run them, and will create problems. The best thing to do is put on a set of triple pipes (my brother put them on his XLT and gained almost 25hp) and clutch it properly. My brother put a Heelclciker clutch kit on his XLT as well and it made a huge difference.

Anybody know specifically what the differences are with the engine between the 34mm carbs and 38mm carbs? I have a 97 XLT SKS with 34mm carbs and a 96 XLT SP with 38mm carbs. The exhausts look like they're the same. The SP has higher compression, but I was wondering if anything else is different.

Also, to get full WOT with the larger carbs, you have to have a different style throttle lever that has a little longer throw because the slides in the larger carbs have more travel.

The motors with the larger carbs have high port cylinders I believe.

Clutched
Jetted, boyesen reed petals, boost bottle, 98xc carbs slides, 1371 needles, gutted air box
Homeade 7 1/2" riser
Homeade suspension drop brackets
shortened and blackened windshield
powermadd handguards
144 conversion, tracks usa extensions, custom tunnel extension and rear bumper, IQ flap, 1.25" track

i believe and i said believe i dont know for a fact.....im sure il be corrected
the ports are higher on the factory equipted 38mm carbs are higher, this allows the "valves" to open sooner allowing more of the fuel/air mixture to be sucked into the cylinder, as well asx be exhausted correctly. i also quoted valves so people hopefully know i meant pistons but was refering to the piston travel in the cylinder.

Bigger carbs on a stock motor is like eating too much candy, You'll just get Fatt.
