ummm. why do the stories need to originate from winsconsin? Sledding stories are sledding stories regardless of where they occurred.

Just started riding last year, went out for about 6 hours with my dad and a friend of his. Good time, had an amazing ham and cheese sandwich in north lake in a little bar, cant recall the name though. But, visor kept fogging up and couldn't see. Went to cross a road over a ditch and saw a dark shadow to my left, could hardly see from the visor. Car, I went right in front of it, just about s**t myself. But, that was my first time out too, so, nothing too bad otherwise. Really nice day to, about 0-5 degrees and sunny. Sore for next 3 days. it was worth it. This year i plan on riding more though.

I'm from IL so they look for my license plates and pull me over. Since Wisconsin doesn't have any money for themselves they find reasons to fine me. They force me to purchase a bright yellow/green trail permit that screams "PULL ME OVER I'M NOT FROM WISCONSIN AND CAN AFFORD IT".

Then they impound my snowmobile.

The end.

I should also add that if I could tow my snowmobile with my boat up lake Michigan to ride in the U.P. I would.

Just telling of past experiences except for the "then they impound my snowmobile" part - that was a joke. I'm sorry to say it but I will never ride in Wisconsin again. I will however go to the Derby track in Eagle river and the 2 vintage museums but that's it.

It sucks that WI is this way too.

LOL, yes, I have had the pleasure (??!??!?!?!) of putting those big ugly bright-colored out-of-state trail passes on our sleds the couple times we're ridden in Eagle River. Dang, might as well hand out those big cheese hats too, make it look REALLY ridiculous!!!

Not too much as far as stories to share from our rides, though. Pretty un-spectacular. Nice trails I guess, I don't encounter one-way trails anywhere else, so those are kind of a neat experience.

Seen plenty of sledders stopped by the DNR or whoever it is that enforces their trail laws, with the hood up getting the visual inspection. I'm not one who really likes the louder cans and stuff on the sleds, and I know that the state law says NO exhaust modifications. I usually ease up on teh throttle when I'm around anyone there, as my stock exhaust is kinda loud.

It is wierd riding there with locals, with us coming from MN where there is a "50 MPH" trail speed limit. I don't usually ride crazy-fast, but find myself having to push it more to keep up with the gang over there. It's fun.

First week in snowmobiling. I took the sleds out with my dad.
I am riding on Lake Winnebago and I just wanted to smoke my dad.
So I am going wide open and I blew my piston haha. I open the hood its smoking and such. My dad towed me back. And then I see these I guys I saw before and just bowed my head in embarrassment lol
It was really cheap to fix though. So luckily it turned out well

We go to the Cable/Lake Namakagon area once a year, great trails there. They have a bar on the lake called Echo Point that has a charcoal grill in the middle of the bar, where you grill your own steak. Like that place alot. No funny stories yet, but we will be goin again this year. Maybe i will make the bro-n-law sit thru Red Greens "Duct Tape Forever" again. He was a sport the first year but ya just knew he hated it, lol

Yahmaha rider, where do you live, we should ride the lake sometime. So last year im rideing tandem with my friend that was new to snowmobileing on my other buddys 2009 gsx le 600 HO, and we are hitting high speeds like the spedo says 103 but i know that was with the track spiining, but over towards waverly right of the boat landing some of the bikers made a mound. i see everybody jump it and i decide to one up them and hit it at 40MPH, it was a sweet jump but the reaction from the DNR was not that good. Just got a talking to for not being careless when you have a tandem rider. Luckly got of the hook.

yep, thats what I do with mine. You don't need a WI address. Fill out your IL address and they mail them to you. I got sick of getting IL stickers when I never ride here, then I'd have to get WI and MI trail passes on top of that. Alot cheaper reg. in Wi and I just buy a MI trail pass.

How about I avoid the state altogether? They've gotten enough money from me as it is. I'd rather ride the yoop anyways. Or SW Lower.
