We plan on staying around St. Ignace or Grand Marias. I'm pulling for Grand Marias! Really like that little town and the location. Planning on being there for at least 4 days of riding.
We ar going to try and drag jfcohio along with us also. He may have to rent a sled which they right there.

Anyhow I thought I would throw this out there if anyone else would like to meet up with us and also incase there is someone who wants to follow us up. We may even have an open trailer space.

If there is some intrest, go ahead and bookmark this thread and we can keep each other informed.

Hey Trickpaint, only 3 hours more and you can make the Fanatics ride in Isabella this year. From Ohio that would only be a short distance to travel compared to what you are taking on already for this trip!

Minnesota ride for the Fanatics appears to be the last weekend in January! Would love to have you in our neck of the woods that weekend!

It's all about the ride to get there, the destination doesn't matter!

2SE, not sure where you're getting the 3 hours from but just to go from Houghton to Duluth is about 4 hours, add another 5 from Houghton to the bridge, and another from duluth to Isabella.

It's about a 10 - 11 hour drive for me to Grand Marias, MI., so he's not far off. I guess it would be another 4-5 hour drive from Gand Marias, MI. to Isabella.

I've never heard of Grande Marias here in Mn but I have heard of Grand MaraisThat is a little over an hour away from Knotted Pine.

As for the place in Michigan, my guess at the time was a shot from the hip. After Tricks post, looks like I wasn't that far of!

St Iggy is in the UP but its right at the bridge. Which is 8-9 hours from duluth. So you're still a ways off.

Grand Marais MN is pretty much the last town on the north shore before entering Ontario.

Old Timer, WTF? Carefull there IBS, I resemble that remark Truthfully speaking, I have always wanted to make a trip to the UP with a sled but with all of my motorcycling stuff in the summer it's hard to budget that type of trip. If only the wife would give up her bike....NOT

Our arrangement that we have at the Knotted Pine has been a godsend for the last 6 years. As it is, I drive 250 miles on a Friday night just to ride on a Saturday but I won't give it up anytime in the future!

Yup!, it should be Grand Marais not Grand Marias. I did it also.

At any rate, Grand Marais or St. Ignace is where we will stay.

If I was to choose between the two, my vote would be Grand Marais for sure

There's so much to do in just about any direction (I wouldn't go too far straight north though).

St. Ignace has alot to offer too though....

Sounds like your in for a great time whatever you do! Enjoy!

From what I've seen in the past seasons, you might want to think about heading towards Munising too. Especially if a storm hits right before or while you're down there.
