Will a DG silencer from the XLT wedge hood fit onto a 1998 XLT Special with the aggresive hood?
- Need to know if a DG aftermarket pipe designed for the wedge XLT hood (93-97) will fit on a 1998 XLT aggressive style? Thanks!

No. Hood gets in the way and if you have pipes, they are different completely

Thanks for the reply! I've wanted to put an aftermarket silencer on the sled (1998 XLT Special), but can't find aftermarket parts for it anywhere. Seems like Polaris made the 98-99 XLT's and then forgot about them.

Just the can for the stock single pipe will interchange with no problem- triple pipes frome wedge to aggressive probably won't work.

Yeah,
All's I want to do is take off the stock can on my 98 with the aggressive hood and replace it with a DG can that was on a wedge. That should all line up no problem? (I don't have triple pipes on the 98, just going to use the stock exhaust with the DG can.) Thanks,
Wes

My bad, I thought you had it piped. If its just the expansion chamber, it should work, but again, you may have hood clearance issues

If you have the double "quiet can" stock can on there now, the only problem you will have is the hole alignment in the belly pan.
You should be able to get it to work.

Hey,
Thanks for the reply. I actually found a can from MBRP that will fit on my sled with the aggressive hood. Does anyone have any thoughts on the quality of MBRP cans and if it's worth it?
Thanks

MBRP is good quality and you better like it loud if you go with MBRP.

Yeah, I don't want to lose my hearing or piss people off. I lost the auction for the DG pipe on ebay though. SLP also makes a silencer, but it says it's only for the 93-97 XLT wedge body, not the 98 with the aggressive hood. Will it still fit on the 98 without having to cut the bellypan all up or make a new hole? The MBRP pipe fit the 93-99 XLT, both wedge and aggressive chassis, so I don't see why the slp wouldn't. How does the slp sound and what kind of quality is it?
Thanks

Never heard just the Slp silencer alone. I know the one that comes with the triple pipes sounds good.
Stock, does your sled have the double quiet can??
If so, there will be nothing that is a direct fit. The exit pipe offset is different even from the stock Xlt can. All of the aftermarket cans are designed to replace the single Xlt can.
With some bending of the bracket with the rubber stopper the can sits on and manipulating of the exhaust you can make it fit.
I have a 2000 Indy Triumph with the Xlt motor. It came stock with the double can. I first put a stock Xlt single can on it. Sounded much better. I now have a DG can on it. Sounds awesome

To tell you the truth I don't know. It looks pretty big from looking at it, it has a nice sound but I thought it was a little weak compared to other triples. What is the difference visually between the double quiet can and the regular can? I just bought the sled about a month ago from a guy up in Pulaski, it's bone stock with 2,200 miles on it. Are you happy with your xcr 800? I was worried this 600 might not have as much snap as I would like, but I guess we will find out. Are you happy with your triumph triple power wise? Where did you find the dg can for it? I can't find anything for this xlt. By the way, where is greenfield?

Greenfield is a sw suburb of Milwaukee. VERY happy with my Xcr 800. Best motor Polaris ever put in a sled. It gets better gas mileage than my Triumph trail riding and has much mure power (158hp vs.100hp). I believe the better gas mileage is because the 800 doesn't have to work as hard as the 600. 12mpg with the 600 and 14.5 with the 800.
Your Xlt will top out at 95,although the speedo may read 105. They are know to be off by about 10% or so.
The double quiet can has a big can on top and a smaller one underneath it. whenyour messing with the exhaust springs, a good idea for a tool is to take an old flat blade screwdriver and grind a small notch in it so you can grab the springs.Pliers are a pain.

Hey,
I'm pretty sure I have the single can after reading your description of what the double can looks like. Having the single can should make it even easier to install the silencer correct?

Double can:

Single can:

According to the Polaris parts diagrams, your sled should have the single can.
