Does it not have a drain plug or something?

It seems I have the same problem with my 1998 SRX. No drain plug, so shop towels is the method I used.

Yes, it has a drain plug, but you need to remove some plastic to get to it.

First, pop off the big side panel. This will leave you with a small bottom panel that is bolted to the chassis. There are 3 bolts you need to remove, 1 is on the running board, right by the foothold, the other 2 are in the depressions in the plastic. I believe they are allen head bolts, 6mm for the running board bolt, 4mm for the other 2 bolts if I remember correctly.

Once the bottom panel is off, you'll be able to see the drain plug on the bottom of the chaincase. When reassembling, pay attention to the way the tabs on the bottom panel slide into their corresponding pockets. This will make reinstalling the bottom panel much less frustrating.

Thanks a lot il take a look for the plug, ive noticed that other forums mention some sleds have a magnet to catch shavings, they used aluminum to make the phazers to save weight, isent aluminum non-magnetic?? this makes me want to see of there are any shavings in the bottom so thanks for the drain plug location.

Oh yea and i have had the experience of taking everything apart to get the the oil filter i know how frustrating the pannels are...
