I'm in the process of implementing Facebook Connect on the website here. First off, for those of you who don't want to use it, don't have a Facebook account, or don't care...you don't have to worry about anything as nothing will change for you.

For those of you who have a Facebook account and would like to use it, or help me test, please continue reading.

Once completed, Facebook Connect will allow you to log into SF using your Facebook login credentials. That means, you don't need to remember a separate username/password for both this site and Facebook, just one set. When you're logged into Facebook you're automatically logged into SF and when you're logged into SF you're automatically logged into Facebook. The same goes with logging out. If you log out on SF you'll be logged out on Facebook as well. If you log out of Facebook you'll be logged out of SF.

At this time, NO new functionality has been added except logging in and logging out. In the future it will allow you to further integrate Facebook into SF and visa verse, if you so wish. Say you update your status here on SF, you can choose to automatically have it updated Facebook. The same goes the other way around...update your status at Facebook and you'll have the option to automatically update it here at SF. It's pretty straight forward and that is only one of the options available. Right now I'm just trying to get the login process working properly.

Facebook Connect will also allow people who visit the site and do not currently have an SF account to log in immediately using their Facebook credentials and post without having to sign up to the site.

If you have an existing SF account and would like to connect it to your Facebook account to help me test this feature, please follow this link: http://www.snowmobilefanatics.com/fbconn...count.aspx I've done a LOT of testing but people seem to be running into problems. The more help I can have looking at this, the better off we are. Just report any problems here.

Remember, you can un-link your accounts at any time so this is by no means a permanent thing.

I appologize for any problems people may encounter. Just please bare with me as it is all new to me too, but it's all pretty cool stuff and I think it's just about working.

ALSO, please note: If you get any misc pop-ups or other annoying things please let me know. This is NOT normal and shouldn't be happening. NO pop-ups exist on this site and for good reason. Please report any weird things you see.

I signed up. Logged in thru facebook and then out. Tried to disconnect link btwn FB and SF then login to SF using Username and pw. Couldn't login with SF UN and PW. Once I relinked the two I could login to SF using SF UN and PW.

I'm having a little trouble following your steps here. You were logged into SF and you linked your account with FB (it logged you in automatically with your Facebook credentials after linking) and then you tried to unlink (at which time you were logged out of the site and FB). You then tried to log back in using your SF account. Did it say "You must log into the site using Facebook" in a pink warning box?

Thanks for the help, let me know every step you took if you can.

This is going to be hard to follow.

I linked the two sites.

Now I find I can no longer log into SF with my SF UN and PW. I can only login thru FB.

So, I tried to unlink the two sites and then loginto SF the traditional way. It didn't work. So I linked in thru FB again and it required me to finalize the link by going in to SF using SF UN and PW, which worked.

So, at this point, I can only log into SF thru FB.

I'm not even Offshore24 anymore either
Maybe that's the problem.
There are two usernames.

erick - can you unlink me from FB?

1. Once you link your SF account to Facebook, you are required to log into SF using your Facebook account - your normal login will no longer work. That is the intended functionality.

2. If you decide to un-link your SF account from Facebook, you can log into SF using your normal SF login but not your Facebook login.

3. Your Offshore24 currently isn't linked to a Facebook account. You should be able to log out of this new account you created (just go to the logout page) and then sign in using your Offshore24 account SF credentials (don't click the "Login with Facebook" button).

I have two facebook accounts one for playing games and one for friends and family, is there anyway to change which account I want SF to connect with? At this time when I click on the connect button it takes me to the account that I use to play games on.

You can click the "Switch Account" link to log out of your current Facebook account (which I assume is your games one) and log into your other account before you complete the connection.

Just remember, if you link your SF account to your non-game playing Facebook account and you log into your game playing Facebook account from Facebook in the same browser, you'll be logged out of SF since because you logged into a different Facebook account (your gaming account).
