Anyone here getting excited for deer season to start? If so where are you hunting? and what are you using for a rifle?

Owning a race sled is like having a totally hot girlfriend..... All of your friends want to see it, feel it and check it out..... They all want to know what it is like to ride it, but if they only knew how much time and money it takes to keep one up, they would call you a fool!

I have to use a shotgun where I live, but I might head north too. I have my blind all set up and will be using my Remington 870 and smith model 29 here. If I head north I am taking my BAR .308.

Heck yeah!!! Look at my status. I've been driving around at my wife's family's land in TX and have seen sooooo many bucks. The rut is going wide open. Saw bucks breeding does already. It's normal to see 20-30 deer in one morning and the same for the evening. I am going up to MN near Detroit Lakes on my parents land for opener. Then for second weekend I'll be in TX. I'm going to let the wife try to shoot her first deer. In MN, I'm using my Rem 700 in 30-06. In TX, I'm using my wife's grandma's 243. I've already got an axis doe and a jackrabbit.

I need big jugs on my sled, cuz my girl doesn't.

Oh yea, I'm excited. For deer season that is. Were hunting on state land but it is just me, my dad, my cousin and my uncle, because were the only ones crazy enough to hunt where we are. haha But I don't think we'll have good luck this year. They are doing some logging around the area where we hunt, actually right where we walk in. But I have a feeling it will be better next year, because the trees that have been cut down will allow new plants to grow on the forest floor, then the deer will come in and eat the buds.

T-minus 1 1/2 weeks until ND deer gun opener! Am I excited? No, not really. I pulled a doe tag this year, and also have a gratis tag. The odds of getting a nice buck are slim-to-none this year. I am still looking forward to season though. Sometimes it's just nice to get out and enjoy the outdoors.

Deer is opening next week, I'm heading home to get me gear ready, but won't be back to take a crack at a whitetail for another week or so. Need to get in a few practice shots with the Savage .30-06 before I get in the stand.

Were going to hunt behind our house on week days and during the weekends were going up to hermantown where family friends own 120 acres. When in hermantown I'll be using my a bolt medalion 325 wsm left hander, and when behind the house I'll be using my slugs out of my benelli m2 left handed in 12 guage. I'm really stoked to go out, at both places I've seen some nice 10-12 pointers roaming around. But Behind the house theres a monster 14 point non-typical, that I've seen four times in the last week.

Deer season opens on the 14th here. My boy got a doe in the youth hunt an hour after being in the stand. I've noticed myself looking into the fields at the tree lines more and more lately, as I simply can't wait to get out there again. I'll be using my mix up of either my CVA Accura with a 3-9x40 VXII or my Remington 870 shur shot with a bushnell trophy on it.

Getting excited, would be more excited if all this corn was down. I will be hunting southern wi, rock county with my TC hawken .50 cal. Could use a rifle but then I would have to buy one. The hawken is very accurate to 100 yard and I love the muzzle loaders over any other type of gun.

I also took the first week of regular firearms season off and the first week of muzzle loader season off. I have 7 of the next 15 days to work then I'm off for hunting.

Right now is Bow season, using the Hoyte again this yr.

Gun deer starts the 21st. Going to be using the Model 700 .270

Then the real season starts.. Muzzel loader season follows gun deer and will be using the TC 50cal

Then back to the Hoyte for a few weeks.

Got 500 acre of Black River bottoms we hunt between Galesville and North Bend. Unit 59C. The home farm is in 59D.
