Ive got a pretty good one. I was out riding with some family near taylor falls and my cousins acident prone self mistaked a big pile of limestone for a huge snow pile. None the less he tried to ride it, he made it to the top of the pile where it flatened out and the sled caught a chunk of rock, it flipped the sled and sent him flying. Amazingly he was alright and only the bulk head was bowed out and the foot hole on the tunel was pounded way the heck out. so we picked up the pieces of windsheild and continued down the trail, well about 3 miles later the trailing arm bolt busted. We were in the middle of a field about a mile and a half from the closest road, about the only thing on this feild was a row of tress seperating the feilds (im guessing it was also a property line) we sat there for about 5 minutes trying to figure out how we could get it back to town and we pretty much settled on the fact we would have to slowly tow it in. Well before we took off i decided i would go take a leak. I naturally rode to the line of trees. When i got up close and looked through the trees i could see an old almost fallen down chunk of barb wire fence. I rode back to the group, grabed the leatherman of my uncles neighbor's sled and rode back over and cut a chunk off. We tied/heavy duty twist tied the the trailing arm through a hole on the now banged out foot hole and my cousin rode 5 miles back into town.

last winter some wires got to close to the exausht and it died on me, so i used the cord from my helmet for the electric visor twisted the wires backtogather and then used the heavy rubber off the cord to insulate them. recked my cord but still made it home

My dad told me this story about his parents snowmobiling with their friends back in the 60's. A person in their group broke the ski off his sled, so, he rode it a ways on one ski back home.

Last year when my wife wrecked her sled it broke the left upper and lower radius rods, left steering rod, sheered the left shock off, buckled left trailing arm, and broke left trailing arm off of the rear mount at the tunnel. There was much more damage to the sled, but I didn't bother to try to fix it all on the mountain, just enough to ride it out.

I ended up using a strap to tie the left ski close to being in place and rode it out with no steering.
No trails and 3 ridges to cross to get back to the 3 mile trail down to the parking lot. Lots of trees etc.
Made it out in 2 hours.

I carry a can of .041 safety wire and work for a helicopter company. Haven't had to use an mcgyver methods yet. Did hve to tie a trailing arm back on to a sle with the safety wire once though.

My brother and I broke a leaf spring shackle and mount on the snowmobile trailer going down H-58 between Grand Marais and Munising, MI. I'm sure some of you know just how remote that area is.....

We unloaded the trailer, went for about a 3 hour ride, all the while thinking about what to do.

When we got back I cut a piece of an Oak tree that was about 3 inches in diameter and 4-5 inches long, put the trailer up on it's side and duct tapped the sh*t out of it to the spring and what was left of the mount. It worked so good we finished our drive all the way to Big Bay where a friend welded up the trailer!

I make sure to always have a full roll of that gray miracle tape in all my vehicles! Gotta love it!

i got lost up there on my 4-wheeler right in that area...always stay at the fox river motel nice place there in seney

Was riding at tug hill, and had the right front suspension collapse, and the sled took a left off of the trail.

Notice the lack of track marks to where the sled is...

Dragged it back to the trail, and saw this..

Good thing for old steel parts...

So FreedomRider wrenched it back into sort of shape, and we strapped it back together with a couple hold down straps, and rode it 25 miles back to the trailer.. When I got it home, the tunnel is bent so it's now a parts machine.

My oldest brother was on a snowmobile trip in the 80s and ended up blowing out a tire in a snow storm. The tire blew apart and which left him with only the rim. Of course he had no spare tire. Rather than grinding down the rim he unbolted a highway sign then bent it and secured it around the rim with wire.He drove for over 30 miles like this.

my cousin broke a tie rod on his edge-x, so we took a board out of a tree stand we found in a swamp we used duct-tape and rope to hold the board between the two ski loops, he drove 25 miles down rough terrain with a board 5" above the ground lol.

And another time, my cousin and his edge-x again, we were running open water, and dipping the skis in the water and wheelin' across a 15' wide section back to ice, well he had no rubber things under the spindel that keeps the ski from moving up and down too much, well when he did it the first time the skis dove into the water and he BARELY, like BARELY made it, so we went and got two bungie cords and put them from the ski loops to the front bumper, ploblem solved! kept going.

Another time on my indy 5, i was hitting some pretty big jumps and my trailing arm bolt snapped clean in half! so i took some wire and tied it numerous times from the trailing arm eye through the footwell holes, and rode 6 miles home!

Another time, my cousin on his edge-x again, he was chasing another buddy through a skinny trail(like a sled and a half wide) and a tree took an entire side of his front suspention off!(everything ripped off) so all we did was stick the ski as best as we could under the belly pan and duct taped it all the way around the hood, and rode it home like a kilometre or so.

another time a buddy of mines mxz 600's radius rod got snapped in two, so we took 12 welding rods and two tubes of JB weld and covered the entire radius rod. first we scotch taped the welding rods around the radius rod then we covered the whole thing in JB weld. lasted all weekend!

oh and using a rope to start a sled, we have people in our area that have to do that every time all season!

Present sleds:

1998 Polaris Indy 500: red screens, red/black Sportech handguards with billet mounts, red C&A pro Razors with 9” sharpers, red gripper running board trim, red hyfax, billet pull handle, billet brake lever, silver front & rear bumpers, low black windshield, custom graphics, clutched (Primary: Polaris blue primary spring #7041080, 10m5 weights, sheave/belt clearance is set at .015''. Secondary clutch: 42/36 helix, SLP black driven spring), geared (dropped 1 tooth), 121" x 15" x 0.91" Camoplast/Polaris track with 96 studs, stripped warning decals, white-faced edge chassis speedometer & tachometer.(For sale).

I forgot to put my gas cap back on, and lost almost all my gas without noticing, until I was at least 40 miles into the trip.
I had some duct tape wrapped around a rubbermaid contaier that had tools in it. i had a plastic bag with dry gloves in it...So I stuffed the hole with the bag ,Taped it secure.. and prayed not to run out of gas!
I made it to a remote gas station in which they had a spare gas cap that fit perfect!
