I have a 2002 500 XC, black and red with a little yellow on the hood. No Vavles, and cheapest front shocks possible. If you have valves you have an xcsp with xc hood!

When did you get that? I sold one to a guy in Osakis last year. I thought the shocks on that XC rode better than the Fox's on my XCSP. Time to get some shocks rebuilt!

Your sled might be an XC and the previous owner just added all the XCSP stuff as well, but I would be leaning more towards the hood being switched out of the hood decal was changed for some reason.
My dad had a black 2001 XCSP 500 and 700 both from new in the same winter, traded the 500 after one ride because his boss at the time needed a 500 for a customer and he would give him enough to make the difference for the 700. The XCSP 500 came with Fox shocks, VES, and a .91 inch track, the XC 500 that year had the .82 inch track.

Ya i mean this sled has fox shocks all the way around, VES, hand and thumb warmers, and a seat warmer the tunnel has a small crack on the side which goes all the way up to the cowl so the cowl must be changed so is the XCSP better? Where would i find if it's an XCSP or just n XC?

Didn't everyone just tell you that if it has a VES motor and Fox shocks it's essentially an XCSP? The VES motor has a little over 100 HP, and the nonVES has 80 I think. The Fox shocks are higher quality than the ones on the XC, and rebuildable. A deeper lug track hooks up better. If you're so concerned what it is, run the VIN #. Otherwise, just enjoy your upgraded XC or your XCSP with the XC hood.

I was told the difference was that the XCSP that it had Fox shocks, VES, different (sporty) hood. Not sure about the 1" track. My XC is a non-VES, fox shocks and black Indy XC hood, w/ .82 track. Polaris must have added the small differences to offer a premium trim for the buyer that wanted the best at that time.
