I am looking at some SPI Hyperdryve pistons that are new for this year. They are made from a space age aluminum and can withstand much more heat and impact they claim....If anyone has any info or ideas on them it would be appreciated.

Regular SPI cast pistons are about $70, where these new super-deluxe ones are $100, while Poo stuff is $140. Just wandering if anyone has any info on these. Thanks.

The super D comment was a joke! Does anyone know who makes SPI stuff....? Is it Western Power Sports? I am trying to find some info on these pistons with no luck what so ever. I e-mailed HPE to see if they know anything. We'll see.

They are still Chinese made like the regular ones, Namura I believe is Co name. Badged as SPI or SPX, the original are brittle with cheap rings, maybe the skirts wont break as easy on these ones. SPI Hyperdyve at SPX online http://www.spxonline.com/spx/09snow/spx-...logue.html

Wiesco pro-lites or OEM for quality and strength

I have heard the same and used them last time around...it certainly wasn't the pistons fault it let go. I am trying to gain some info on these new ones. They are in a few catalogs but that is the only info I can find.

I used them on 3 of the motors I did last winter without a problem. It was in an Ultra, XLT, and XC 800.

Ive used SPI in my '00 XCR and that sled ran really strong for 3yrs and still going strong into this season. Next year I am going to do top half rebuild for my '01 XCR next summer project. WL
