Hey guys!
I noticed most of the members on this site are from somewhere in the states so I wanted to make a forum to see who lives in Ontario. Please post where you live, what your sled is, where you ride, and your opinions on how riding in Ontario is.
Heres my info:
1.Bright's Grove, ON
2.1995 Polaris Indy Starlite 250
3.I ride mostly on the trails (not sure what district it is) and in some fields here and there with my buddys.
4.I like the riding in Ontario, but the winters are very un-predictable, sometimes a ton of snow, other times no snow.
It's not what you drive, It's what drives you!
Pain is just weakness leaving the body!
Current Sleds:
1995 Polaris Indy Starlite 250 - Mine
2001 Polaris XCF SP 440 - Dad's
1995 Polaris Indy XLT Special 600 Mod - Brother's
Past Sleds:
2001 Polaris XCSP 600 w/modded out 2003 Polaris ProX 600 motor - Dad's
1998 Ski-Doo Formula 380 - Mom's First
2003 Polaris ProX 600 - Mom's Second

1. Drayton, ON
2. 1992 Polaris Indy 650
3. I ride mainly on the trails to neighbouring towns or to the lake at my cottage which is only about a 10 min ride.
4. I also enjoy how unpredictable it can be, one day it's 5 degrees, the next it's minus 30. Hate it when we don't get snow. My school closes a ton in the winter and those are great days to go sleddin.

mackinsaw Thinks it's mighty convient for the neighbor to wait untill there's snow on the ground and to ask me if I would do him a massive favour and cut his firewood for the winter for money as he is incapable. Dang I got some work cut out for the next few days.

I don't live there, but we have a cabin in Echo Bay. It's not winterized so I usually stay with friends or rent a cabin just North of the Soo.
I'm going to get a season permit this year, so I plan to be up there a couple times at least. May even do a big loop again.

I'm pretty sure if you buy them before December 1st they are $200.00 and after the 1st $250. In my opinion they are well worth the money, the trails rule in Ontario!!!
Cheers

Yeah, IMO its getting pretty pathetic, like my family doesn't have that much money and we like to snowmobile but it might come to an end one of these days because we might just not be able to afford it.

Is it because there are less people getting into sledding in Ontario? because if that's it, then they need to find a better way to approach this because this is just going to make less people buy permits.

You would think they would have some kind of family deal for folks who live in Ontario! A family of 4 who has been doing this as a family
recreational activity is now looking at a grand to point their sleds down the trail.

And for a lot of people, this is the point where they decide to ride on private trails instead of paying to use the other ones. IMO, thier going to loose a lot of money over this.

the early bird special is if you bought it before today, then your name goes into a draw for a chance to win free gas for the season. i think thats what it is.
and if you buy the trail pass before december 1st its $200, and anytime after then, its $250

1. Dorion (45 mins east of Thunder Bay)
2. 99 XCR SP 440/600
3. tower lines, pipelines, lakes, rail beds, off trail riding (not much for groomed trails where i am)
4. interesting terrain, lots of room to explore, not much for other sled traffic so its not so crowded

In Kitchener, I grew up in Sudbury and know that area very well.
Currently riding a pair of xcr's 800's
Not into off trail, bent too many parts in my day.
If I'm not in SWO, I start in Sudbury and point them north.
When in Doubt, gas it

You would think they would have some kind of family deal for folks who live in Ontario! A family of 4 who has been doing this as a family
recreational activity is now looking at a grand to point their sleds down the trail.
They (clubs) have been trying for some time to get OFSC to give families a break, but they refuse to offer any discount to a second or third sled. I guess they figure the classic permit at $125 is good enough. At least it is some sort of a price break if only for a small percentage of snowmobilers. I volunteer alot and agree that $200 is a fair deal.
